Hi, my name is Bree and I have been searching online for 2 hours for information on what could be causing these symptoms and still dont feel like I really know anything. My boyfriend's pug has not been at all his usual self lately. He'll only eat if he's hand fed, same goes for drinking he'll only drink water out of a cupped palm. He's always been very energetic and now he will not move, has to be forced to even go outside for potty. My guy says he thinks Cid had a seizure the night before this started, that was about a week ago. By now we believe Cid might very well be brain-damaged somehow. He doesnt even seem to recognize his name and he's always responded to it till now. I've never seen my guy cry before, today he did as he believes we're losing Cid. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. We're very short on money right now or I'd take Cid to a vet, but we just cant afford to.
That is very sad to hear. Unfortunately I would recommend contacting a rescue group to see if they will take him. It sounds like he needs lots of blood work and testing and soon.
I'm so sorry to hear your boyfriend's pug is suffering. This really sounds like something that a vet should look at! Cid might have had a seizure, possibly a spine injury, there are just so many things that might be wrong. Could you ask your vet for a payment plan? Some vets will work with you so that your pet can get treatment right away and you pay the bill off gradually. Or there is a service called Care Credit ( CareCredit® Veterinary Financing for Pet Care, Pet Surgery, Vaccinations & Other Veterinary Medicine Procedures ) It's basically like a credit card, but it's for health care expenses. If those are not options and no family members are able to float you a small loan, then surrendering him to a rescue so he can get the care he needs would be the most caring and sensible thing. No one wants to part with a loved pug, but it would be horrible to watch him suffer just because you can't afford treatment.

I am so sorry to read this -- I agree that he needs to get to a vet asap, even if it means phoning around to find someone that will extend you a little credit. He sounds like he's a very sick little pug, and I'm sure if you lost him without seeing a vet, your boyfriend would never forgive himself. Best of luck. You'll all be in my prayers.

Yes, there are times when you can wait and see and there are times when you urgently need to see the vet. This is one of those vet times.

You have no idea how serious this can be. I beg you to go to the Vet, they will make arrangements for payment. I don't want to seem mean but this baby must be terribly ill and only you can end this suffering. Please go and now.
