hey my names mat and i have 13 month old male pug who gets alot of pimples around his mouth area does anyone know any good ways to get rid of these?
Daisy used to get these when she was about that age. Ultimately we figured out that she has grain allergies which were causing the pimples. I am sure there are other causes, so perhaps someone else will post with their experiences also.

Canine pimples can have a number of root causes, requiring different solutions. However, assuming your dog shows no signs of food allergies, doesn't suffer from any other skin issues and is free and clear of fleas and mites/parasites than it is most likely that the cause is merely bacterial. You should try cleaning the area well with an antibacterial solution, such as Pug Village member Lisa's (6 Beautiful Pugs) recipe for ear flush and/or facial fold cleaner:
Applying iodine is a popular treatment as well.1/3 c. white vinegar
1/3 c. rubbing alcohol
1/3 c. witch hazel
10 drops (give or take) tea tree oil
Clean/treat the affected area daily and it should clear up or at least show marked improvement in a week or two.
If not, a trip to the vet and a skin scraping may be in order.
Best Wishes!

Also, welcome!![]()
Welcome.
If you are using pastic food or water bowls switch to ceramic or metal. Plastic can get invisible scratches which harbour bacteria and exacerbate the problem.
So long as the spots don't get too red or start weeping you are fine to treat them at home. Our vet recommended wiping the muzzle after meals with kitchen paper dampened with cooled boiled water with salt added.

Excellent tip, I had no idea about plastic feeding bowls! Glad I've been using a stainless steel slow-feed bowl. But this brings to mind another good point which is just that it's a good idea to clean out their food and water dishes regularly.

Hi I use stainless steal bowls and make sure I clean them every meal , he hasn't got any allergies that I know of. They some times go away for week or so but then come back really bad on his top lips and bottom and been the vet they give antibotic it clears it then comes back again so just wanted treat my self
Hmm. Well, given that the problem does respond to antibiotics it would seem to reinforce the fact that it's a bacterial infection so I would think any sort of topical antibacterial cleanser or ointment sound treat it but I wonder why this is a reoccurring issue.
In regards to potential allergies, do you know if your pet food contains any common allergens such as grains, soy, or corn?

do you wash his face after each meal? I find that helps significantly!
