Ozzy had liquid poop yesterday.
I read on this forum that pure Pumpkin (not pie filling) helps. I gave him about 1-2 tbsp last night before bed and he had diarrhea early this morning
How much pumpkin do I give at one time?
By itself or mixed with food?
How often do I give it to him?
How long does pumpkin take before i should notice a difference?
How long should he have diarrhea before I become concerned?
He has a great appetite and is very playful and is drinking plenty of water. I started with the puppy soft treats (Wellness brand) the day before yesterday for doing his business outside (1 treat each time he was successful). Could this be the culprit?

If the treats are the only thing you changed, that may be the culprit. I use a teaspon of pumpkin with each meal mixed in. Too much can give them diarrhea. I think it takes a couple of days to work.I would be taking him in if the diarrhea continues past today. They can dehydrate pretty quickly. If he starts vomiting or gets lethargic, I would take him right away.Prayers it stops today.

If Ozzy was an adult, I would not be concerned, however as a small puppy, I would not be playing with pumpkin, anti-diarrhea meds, etc. I would have him in to be checked for something more serious.....then go to the pumpkin and/or anti-diarrhea meds.
There are several diseases, of which diarrhea is a symptom, that can be life-threatening to a puppy and early detection and treatment are crucial. So I won't play around more than one or two piles of loose stool from a puppy before taking them in.
Take care,

thanks so much Tinker's Mom and 6 Beautiful Pugs.
I think I will see how today goes and if he is still loose by end of day, I will take him im tomorrow. I gave him 1 tbsp of pumpkin last night and same this morning (no more today) and I will also stop the "doing his business" treats and see if that makes a difference by end of day.

So, after stopping the 'Wellness' puppy treats for housebreaking and giving Ozzy some pumpkin this morning, he had a semi firm poop!! I am now inclined to believe it was the particular treat that upset his tummy. I have now decided to put loose kibble in my pocket to reward him with when he does his business outside. At least I know, the kibble is fine for him.
