There has been a suggestion among the pug community over there that we should lobby for a change in the pug standard so as not to prefer button ears over rose ears. Those who know their pugs say that they can always tell if an ear has been taped and since both types are supposed to be acceptable let us just end the silly preference. Flying ("Walter") ears are a different matter and are not desirable in the show ring. However, they look pretty cute so in a pet I really think it is not worth the faff of taping. It is not painful, true, but it is a fiddle that the dogs generally dislike.

Neither Prince Charles or Clark Gable ever taped their ears, and they did just fine.

That reminds me. When my oldest daughter, Valerie, now 29, was born, she had a "floppy" ear. One of her ears had been folded forward in the womb and the ear stuck out pretty bad. The doctors were not concerned, however for about a month I taped that ear against the side of her head until the cartilage had become firm enough to support it.

She still teases me about being such an "abusive" mom....LOL.

    Take care,

    It's all preference.

I show and love the button ear! I had Nikki's ears taped til I was done showing her...then they blew in the wind!

I would tape them as I love the look of the head with nice ears....but that's just me

Things may settle down after she completely finishes teething---but that is simply enchanting. Now, of course, we need more pics.
