Default Spoke too soon...Mushu is still sick

Last night, just as my fiance and I were dozing off, I noticed that there seemed to be a lot more space in the bed.

    "Where's Mushu?" I ask.
    "I dunno."
"Uh oh. Can you go check to see if he left us another 'present'?"
Fiance disappears and then I hear from the kitchen "Oh, no. He did it again."

We had just started him back on his regular diet! First thing this morning I called the vet and took him in. They did a rectal exam (poor Mushu!), gave him a shot to settle his tummy, and sent me home with loperamide and metronidazole. He had a brief bout with diarrhea right when we got home from the vet, but he's been fine since. Of course, the vet advised me to keep him on a fast, so he hasn't eaten either. I just made him some plain rice and he has no interest. Poor thing. He just doesn't seem like himself.

The vet said that he'd call us tomorrow with the results of the fecal test. Does this sound like anything you've experienced? I'm very worried, even though the doctor didn't seem overly concerned.

We also found out that he likely has allergies. His ears are inflamed and he keeps worrying his feet. Oy. One thing at a time!

Poor guy! Might have to be on special food! Might have to do an allergy test to find out what he's allergic to.....and fit it into a good diet for him!

See him feeling better and better!

Thanks for all of the kind messages! His fecal test came back negative. He hasn't had anymore runny poops, but he hasn't gone at all. I wonder if the medicine is causing that?

A friend has a Pomeranian who came down with the same thing. Well trained dog, accidents in the house, tummy trouble. Can there be something "going around" in the dog world?

So today we gave Mushu some of his regular food mixed with rice and a couple of carrots as treats. He finally pooped and it was a little runny so I panicked and gave him some of the medicine that the doctor gave me. He seemed slightly lethargic after that and, a short time later, threw up. He seemed much better after the vomiting but, of course, I'm worried out of my mind.

My dad seemed to think that Mushu had some sort of virus. I'm so new at this...I didn't even know that dogs could get viruses!
