Default tips for aftercare of anal gland removal?

Well we are on day 2 of post anal surgery and I am feeling very frustrated , my poor girls seems to be in so much pain and there is nothing I can do to help. I am following all the doctors requests, but feel like I should be doing more, I feel so helpless which is made worse when she is trying to poop and looks at me with that poor face. Has anyone gone through this before, or have any suggestions to make her more comfortable? Anything would be appreciated. Thanks, A very sad mommy

This may sound dumb but we used to show new moms how to sitz bath after delivery. What does the vet say about holding warm wet cloths to her butt several times a day to relieve pain and promote healing. It would be the next best thing to a sitz. Tucks pads kept in the refrigerator feel good too.Hope she feels better soon.

I asked about the warm cloth, they said they prefer to keep the area dry but then she said it was fine so I was a little confused. Last night she pooped the bed in her sleep so after I washed her bum I did do the warm cloth for a bit and she seemed to like it. I called my vet this morning and we up'ed her pain meds so hopefully that will help, I noticed one of her incisions is getting a little red so Im hoping it is just from the wash yesterday or pushing from going to the bathroom what a mess. I was wondering though if anyone knew how to continue to allow her to have soft poops, I really dont want any firm ones yet until she's a little more healed, it looks painful enough going with the ones shes having now, Thanks for the ideas

I think if you flood her food with water it would make them softer. I don't know of any specific food that would do it but someone else may.Hope she heals quickly.

I saw the title of the post and all I could think of is a donut cushion. That's no help. I'm sorry the recovery is hard and I hope she's feeling better soon.
