OK So I am really concerned, I went to take the dogs out for their daily walk this am and both Frank and Piglet have a little bit of wetness around one eye, It doesnt seem like a scratch and its not green or anything, I gave them both a bath and cleaned their eyes with warm water, But I am wondering if I should start antibiotic drops just in case.... I have them left over from a few months ago when my senior pug Frank had an eye infection. I was considering an emergency vet visit but Over the past few hours there has been no continued weeping so if it was your dog would you give them the antibiotic drops and just take them in tomorrow or go today?
If they are squinting or pawing at the eye or keeping the eye closed, or if there is green discharge (which you say there is not) then you need to go to the emergency vet.
It is not a good idea to use old antibiotic drops. Not all drops are suitable for all conditions. For instance, some drops also have a steriod in them and that is a HUGE no no if there is a scratch in the eye, which only the vet can check with the eye dye. However it is a good idea to give them lubricating drops and then take them in tomorrow.

Thanks, I'm glad I didnt use the drops for Frank b/c I read the bottle and it does have steroids, I did a little research ab the lubricating eye ointment and will run up to the feed store to get some.
Our vet is an old country one who was willing to take my call and she said the same thing if not green or they arent rubbing them it can wait until tommorow. I just hate the idea of something getting worse while I wait until tomorrow. I'm keeping a close watch on it and at the first sign of discomfort we're going, Its worth the 250$ ER VEt fee to save an eye...
