Hello everybody,
I was just curious if you all think pet insurance is worth getting, and whether or not you think it's a good idea or not? My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I've read what some of you have been through medically with your babies, and I can see why it might be needed!
I was also hoping you could tell me what the best ones are? Do they pay for regular visits, or is it better cost-wise not to get that? Any help and advice you could give me would really mean a lot! Thank you! ...cheap burberry clothing
I have a nine year old female and just got insurance through trupanion. In those 9 years I have spent over 5000$ on various surgeries for her, last week she needed her anal glands removed. not sure how they are (like I said we just got it), But with her history and age they still covered me. They dont cover regular check ups, but they do cover 90% of other stuff, you can go on their website and check it out they have all the info listed. I also did some research online before and heard nothing but good things. Tell your husband you are not crazy, with this breed insurance is a very wise choice, I believe in the long run its totally worth the money and as old as my girl is now Im still glad I have it :)

I have insurance and am very glad of it.
You need to check what is on offer carefully. In this country many policies will not cover a pet for life. That means that if it gets a condition they will pay out in the year the condition occurs but it is then excluded for all future years.
If you are going to get insurance it is better to get it early because no insurer will cover a condition that exists at the time of taking out the cover.

i wouldn't want to be without it.....
we have VPI and have had it since I got him, but this year they offered a new major medical plan, where you pay one deductable and everything else is covered, i can't remember if it's 100% or 90 or 80....don't quote me, but it's an improvement on their previous plans which required a deductable per occurrance

We have VPI as well. Their Major Medical plans are definitely an improvement over previous plans. Quotes are specific to your pet's breed and age, and they also do exclude pre-existing conditions that cannot be "cured."
Just be aware that there are breed-specifc exclusions as well as other coverage exclusions. For example, pigmentary keratitis is excluded. They also put maximum dollar amounts on each "condition" that is the upper limit of what they'll pay out, regardless of what the vet charges.
VPI offers an extra rider to cover preventive care but it's really not worth the additional cost; you'd have to pay out almost as much for the insurance as you would for the services covered.
Their service has been good, claims are processed promptly and it's not hard to do. We don't have any complaints there. Having the coverage gives us peace of mind but we recognize that it doesn't cover everything.

We have Petplan insurance and have been very happy with our coverage. They do not exclude breed-specific conditions as some do, and offer several levels of coverage so you can choose what you can afford or are comfortable with.
We went through a terrible episode with one of our cats which ended up costing us thousands of dollars, and eventually we had to make the decision that we just could not financially continue. This was horrible for us as we honestly felt like with unlimited money she could have been cured.
After this episode we decided we wanted to be as prepared as possible and insurance helps to give us the security that we are.
No insurance covers absolutely everything, but there are some good companies who can help.

It's absolutely worth it. I have pretty basic coverage that only costs about $25.00 per month, but after only having made one claim so far, I've saved more in vet bills than I've paid for the premium. The company I use is Petsecure.
Do you know any reliable pet insurance company? My friend really needs it, we are afraid to get scammed.

Pugs have a way of finding the people who need them, filling an emptiness we don't even know we have.
I'm going to be looking into some pet insurance also. I haven't had any big issues but I'd like the piece of mind.
