    Default Coughing

Hello everyone... First of all if anyone out there in Pugland has a pug that has a marking problem please check into the PeeKeeper diaper, it is awesome... Okay, on to my question/concern I have 2 pugs one is 10 and the other is 6. The 6 year old is the alpha of the two (Beijing) and the other the male (Simon). I have noticed that both have been coughing alot and like they are almost trying to cough up flem or something. I know that Simon has allergies as I had to switch to grain free food and he can not have anything that is associated with beef. I have asked the Vet (which I do not think he is familiar with Pugs at all) and he said it is no big deal. Not sure if I should go somewhere else or what, I need help!!!!
I do have another question- Beijing my alpha dog can be so aggressive when it comes to other dogs, she actually scares them. She is on her chain and she practially chokes herself to get to them and once she greets them and sniffs she is done with them, not sure what to do about that. Also, she loves to watch TV and just goes nuts when she sees other animals, the only thing I have found to work to stop that is squirting her with the water bottle, is there any other suggestions?

    Thanks so much

You know, I have learned the hard way that you cannot always trust your vet! Years ago, I was concerned with my Shane's breathing! Vet kept saying...he's a pug...he's okay. Then one day...he barely made it 10 ft....The next day we were at the vet where an xray was finally taken. From there we went to a specialist...and I was told that Shane had lung cancer. He didn't even live through the weekend!

I'm not saying that your dog has this problem....but it could have been any problem! I think that I'd go to a different vet that knows pugs! I thing there's a rescue down there and that's who I'd contact for info.

As for your alpha girl, she's kinda old to just start working on these issues...but it can be done. There are people trained to work with behavioral issues. I'd call one of them.

    Good luck to you!

Bella is the same way with the aggression and its funny because she starts to cry when other dogs are around, but when they do come up to her she sniffs then attacks; she's nine so I come to accept that she will likely not change

I'd definitely get a second opinion about the cough. Good luck.
