So Emma is still in the process of her grain free diet switch. Recently I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and let her itch. (my last dog went bald from itching and I get paranoid when Emma itches) Usually I just clap my hands and when Emma stops itching I praise her.
BUT Since she hasn't been getting responses from me she would NOT stop itching and she has now developed scabs and rashes:'( So I went back to getting her to stop itching after a few strokes.
I heard from my mother in law that witch hazel works great. I did research and everyone seems to like it and it helps with healing.
Anyone have any opinions, thoughts, experiences?
THANKS!
Witch hazel would not hurt anything. You might want to consider coconut oil, adding that to her diet. Pat(Pat's crew) did a post on it not to long ago.

Also neem oil is very soothing, very good for the skin, helps the hair re-grow and will repel fleas and kill mites.
if you need to step it up you can give oral and topical benadryl and/or topical cortisone cream and oral prednisone.
The most important thing is to pinpoint as close as possible the underlying cause of the itch.
Take care,
