So I figured I would test the waters here and see what you guys think?
I want to start a Vet Assistance NonProfit Organization
the goal would be to have a pool of resources Pug Owners could access if thye have unexpected medical bills.
Many of the Pugs I have seen come into local rescues were owner surrenders because they could not affor vet care.
Especially with Senior Pugs.
The goal would be to keep well loved pets with their families.
I work in Finance and Marketing so I have experience with writing grants etc.
Do you guys think its a good idea?
Do you think I shouldnt be breed specific?
Has anyone else ever started a non-profit?

I think it is a wonderful idea.
I am hoping to wade through the 501(c)3 paperwork and start my own non-profit, a retirement home, convalescent home, hospice home for pugs. The paperwork is like an inch thick.
Take care,
Lisa

Love both of you!!!!!
Count me in to help if it gets off the ground!
I think that is a fantastic idea!!!! When we found out Bella needed surgery I was panicked, I had just left my job to go back to school and had no idea how we were going to afford it. I tried looking for something similar to what your talking about online but only found a financing company (which doesnt help if you have no job, regardless of credit history) thank god for my bf's mom for lending us the money, I would hate to wrestle with the thought of giving her up so she could be healthy :(
Thank You! I love your idea for a Hospice too!
Its so sad to see senior pugs with out homes...
I swear the old ones are my favorite.
I printed apps on line for the 501(c)3 too and am really overwhelmed.
Have you designated officers etc.
That has been the hard part for me because I dont know anyone that has the time to dedictae to another rescue cause.. Everyone is pretty maxed out...

I think it is a great idea. The only question I have in my mind is how to identify those with a true need vs those that it is just not a good time. Or, should it matter a whole lot with a payback system. In some cases it's a grant, in others a loan.
There is a girl here who is starting one up. Check out "Pugs for Pinky" on Face Book. She may be able to you with the specifics. BTW:
