    Default Pug Pimples?

    Hello all :)

In the last week or two, Nano has been getting pimples on his chin. This hasn't happened since he was very small, when we were using a plastic bowl for his water. We switched to a stainless steel bowl, and haven't had any trouble until recently.

I had been adding some cottage cheese as a topper to his dinner, and thought that maybe it was the dairy effecting him. I stopped giving him any form of dairy though, and it hasn't changed.

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with this? He is 7 months old now, could it just be because he's growing up? The early teenage years maybe?

    Thank you for reading!

    Could it be canine herpes?

I've heard of this before and believe it or not some of our pug owners put acne medication on them just use very little and rub it in good as you switched to stainless which is good and also my one pug had that when he was younger i did it and it worked but,if you'd like to ask your vet as it could be an allergy now my ole"man is fine lol.

Could be reoccuring pug acne, check any plastic toys or nylabones it's not just plastic dishes that harbor bacteria.

Both of mine have had pimples at some point. I even had a Vet look at the little pustules. Nothing to worry about. Just Pug Pimples.

At that age it is probably just pimples. I would suggest wiping his chin after every meal with a kitchen towel dampened with boiled water (cooled) with added salt. If the pimples get bigger or red and angry looking or start weeping then consult the vet.

Thank you for the advice! I have switched his baby nylabones to antlers for chew toys, and he just has one plastic ball now that I wash down well with vinegar. We are going to wash his face after his meals, and see if that helps. Just in case, I made a vet appointment for him this week to have it looked at.

    I'm such a worry-wart.

Could it be warts!? Just kidding :)

My yoda just had one. I was at the vet last week and all she said was "Yup, looks like a pimple, may have it forever". Really, do they not go away. We changed bowls long before it showed up.

Yes, pimples go away. However pugs tend to have raised hair follicles around their muzzles so there are always little tiny lumps there. The swollen obvious pimples come and go as with humans.

Winston gets them from time to time. We do still have one plastic water bowl. Sounds as if we should switch to a stainless one.
