    Default Neuter

Chewie is getting neutered tomorrow! =o like everyone else, I'm nervous. What can I expect? Will he be groggy that afternoon after I pick him up? How long do I need to keep him quiet for (ha!)? Thanks!

Your vet will tell you how long to keep him quiet.... it's usually not as long for the boys as for the girls, but it's a tough thing to do with any young pug!

Best wishes for Chewie to have an uneventful neuter and a speedy recovery!

Prayers for an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery. The hardest part is keeping them quiet until they heal.

The neuter surgery didn't seem to be that bad for my boys. They were groggy the evening we picked them up, but the next day they were back to normal. I don't recall the vet giving us special instructions to keep them quiet for an extended time. The vet did give us pain meds in case they needed them; if I recall, we gave them a dose or two and then discontinued because they didn't seem to be having any pain. Good luck; I'm sure everything will be fine!

Sending good thoughts. Try to get a good nights sleep and try not to worry. He will be fine. Thank you for nuetering to help cut down on the number of unwanted dogs in shelters and on the streets.

So chewbacca was neutered and even had two baby teeth removed that didn't come out on their own. Thank goodness he's home now and doing well. The vet said to try to keep him quiet for FIVE DAYS!! Now really, I'll do the best I can, but Chewie is a very active seven month old pug. Any tips? Do I really crate him for five days?! Maybe keep him on a leash in the house? He loves to run around and jump and play with both my preschool son and our older black lab so quiet he is not lol!

Glad he's home and doing well. Chewie is a very handsome boy. Keeping him relatively still and quiet is a challenge. Probably the biggest thing is to keep him from jumping up on things and tearing the stitches. Having him leashed to you in the house is a good idea.
