Stalin had his CT scan/rhinoscopy last Monday where she saw blood, mucus, inflammation, and an "abnormal structure" that she biopsied.
Well the abnormal structure is just part of his body, a birth defect and is benign. His sinuses are full of inflammation, though, so he's being put on doxy for possibly 6 months along with an anti-inflammatory med (peroxicam I think?). The long term antibiotic is to help knock out infection, apparently in the sinus it can take a while. He has a follow up in a few weeks to make sure the meds aren't harming his system at all and check on progress.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and crossed fingers!! He might not be healed, but it's not cancer!![]()
Stalin's nervous mama
Great news!! Piroxicam is a great drug, BUT it is SUPER hard on the stomach, can cause ulcers frequently. Please, please ask the vet if it would be okay if you gave him a 1/4 of a Tagamet or 1/2 Zantac twice a day while he's on it.
I don't want to see him have a perforated ulcer when it's so easy to prevent with tagamet.
Take care,
Lisa
