    Default Pugs as jogging partners

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question....

I'm thinking about getting into jogging as a cardio workout. I was thinking about taking Zamboni along but I'm not really sure if this is a good idea or not. She loves our walks, but this would be a faster pace. Since pugs have breathing issues - should I have her come along with me? Or is this best as a solo adventure?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Tinker would not be able to jog nor do I think most pugs would. They especially do not tolerate heat or humidity. You're looking at a solo adventure.

I agree, solo jogging. Pugs should not be expected to run long distances, its hard for them to cool down and catch their breath.

Well ... the OP lives in Washington ... lovely, cool weather on the West Side. I have Rendezvoused in Camas and it is amazingly beautiful and not a bit humid. None of WA is ;-)
We have agility pugs, and dancing pugs ... why not well-hydrated and monitored jogging pugs in the right weather in limited distances?

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should just relax and get used to the idea.

I wouldnt risk it personally. My 2 year old pug is very active, healthy, and slim at 16 pounds. She is filled with energy and I let her run off leash at parks all the time. But, that's at her own pace - she can stop and relax at any point, I would never expect her to run along side me for an extended period of time.

If you do decide to...make sure you have water....and a doggy pack that you can put your pug in when he/she tires and jog with him in it til you get home...

That's an idea - a doggy pack if she gets tired! However, at that point I'm not sure I won't be tired too! LOL - I'm thinking maybe just the walks for Miss Z - then I'll drop her off at home and go for a jog. Thanks for the input!
