    Default itchy babies

I have two pugs a girl and a boy they are both very itchy... we have checked for fleas none, they have both been groomed given flea baths and been treated with oatmeal shampoo to relieve itching...has not worked. Both pugs itch and scratch and lick constantly.. Logan has scratched off his fur on his tail and bailey has a dark spot near her tail... we dont know what else to do.... any suggestions?

    thanks in advanced guys!!!

First of all welcome to Pug Village. The itching, scratching, paw licking could be food allergies. What do you feed them? Dog food with grains and by products are bad for causing allergies. To relieve them some you can give then some benedryl that you can get from the drug store. others will post soon with dosages. Good luck with getting all that cleared up. We love pictures on PV so post some of your Puggies when you have time.

Yes, what do you feed them? I had to buy a fish and potato kibble for my pug because of certain foods that would set her off.
Finally my Vet sent me to a animal allergist in Naples, Fl. After further testing she was diagnosed with Atopic dermatitis. I had to have her on medication for several months. Within a week the difference was amazing.

We have them on natural balance duck and potato food, it has limited ingredients which is supposted to be good for dogs with allergies. Would it be likely that both dogs have the same allergies? Do you have any suggestions on what food to feed them? They are really picky eaters too...

    Welcome to the Village!

My sister had a dog that was allergic to potatoes!

Try revolution heartworm and flea treatment combined. You will have to worm as it doesn't protect against that

I think i'd try to switch them onto a food without grain or potato. I'd also take them to the vet. I don't know if it could be mange or something like that.
