    Default Red eyes, possibly seasonal?

My pug Jake has had slightly red eyes lately. He isn't in any discomfort or doing anything out of the ordinary. This is his first summer in the north east, he is used to the south. Could it be allergies? The first thing I did was book a vet appointment but they were booked untill next week. What should I do in the mean time? Ask the vet? Any help is appreciated!

Keep his eyes lubricated.....Get some genteal gel severe and put it in his eyes at least twice a day...more if he's outside a lot.

The vet might prescribe drops with a steroid in them ....should stain the eye first to make sure that there isn't the slightest injury in the eye. If you get started on it, you have to keep a close eye on him. IF it bothers his eye...stop and call the vet....there could be an injury there. If you even suspect something is wrong, you need to stop the meds immediately and head to the vet to make sure eye or eyes are good before you put another drop in.

I had a dog show to go to. Ben was fine on the way to the vet and showing in the AM. We had to stay as we won...and all of a sudden he was winking! I had meds with me....and put them in but suspected that it was an allergic reaction to something. I went straight to the vet for a stain before I put the stuff in it that was needed for allergies....as it has a steroid in it and CANNOT be used with an injury. Vet cleared him and I was able to put the meds in that eye for a day or two and all was well again!

Good luck and keep us posted!

The vet said everything should be fine, but if the situation changes she wants me to call and she will try to get me an emergency appointment. Thanks for the help!

I would still lubricate. I was told by a specialist that all pugs should get genteal gel severe twice a day due to the nature of their eyes.

    Glad he's okay!
