    Default Not a Pug - a Peke - pass out/seizure

Hope someone has some ideas I haven't considered. My sister called to tell me she was taking Precious her peke to the emergency vet. Seems a little bit ago Precious had been sleeping under the end-table - she got up, coughed, fell onto her left side and was unresponsive for a few minutes. Long enough for sis to get to her, lift her into a sitting position, and then she woke but had a distant look to her. She seems Ok now, sleeping while sis gets things ready to take her. I told her she needed the vet to at least take some blood to check her values and when she calls I'll meet her down at the emergency vet. What I've considered is:
    - mild seizure
    - stroke/heart issue
    - heat (they are at my moms so I bet it's 80 or more)
    - her patella went out and was painful and she passed out.
    - simple pass out.

    She is 10-11 years old.

Sounds like a heart problem. They can listen to the heart and do an EKG and it's pretty reasonable. There are plenty of meds that help, Vetmedin, benazepril, lasix.....almost as many as for people.

    Take care,

That happened to Nikki once...and it never happened again! Hope it's the same with your sister's girl!

Just got back from the Emergency Vet. Vitals were good, little elevated heart rate (to be expected I think!), maybe a little dehydrated (it's hot out and she was panting), heart sounded good but could not really check for murmor with her panting. They are keeping her overnight, running bloodwork, ecg or ekg, maybe x-ray.
Other than being scared she was acting just like her ole self. Gave my face a bath. I've been given the full sniff test by Mz Tilly and Miss Angel. They know I stepped out on them to see another dog.

We should start hearing some results tonight.
    Thanks!

My sis called, Precious is doing well at the vet. The bloodwork came back clean, urinalysis good, ekg good. Tomorrow will have the x-rays of heart/lungs so hoping those come out clean too. These have me a little concerned only because of age and the little cough she had before passing out or having the seizure. So far so good though.

Glad to hear the first results are good. Your sister was probably very glad to have you at the e-vet with her during such a stressful time.
