One year our pugfest had a man come and teach pet CPR. The pug he was demonstrating on kept on licking him - she couldn't fake being dead very well. But it was still a good class. The best thing he suggested was to do puppy proofing like you do baby proofing - get down on your knees and crawl around the house, looking for things that could prove harmful. Peg

I was just wondering whether we could make a sticky out of this.

I'd like to make this topic a "sticky" - I agree it is urgently important that we all familiarize ourselves with first aid procedures and know how to help a pug when it is choking - a matter of moments could mean the difference in life or death and we're not as likely to panic ourselves if we know what to do.

Someday I hope we'll get back to developing the Frequently Asked Questions Forum and I think this would be extremely valuable information to include there also. That might be a good 2005 project!!

    Thanks, Renee!!

Thanks for the posting on CPR. This kind of info is not readily available in Germany where I live, so I printed this out and will give it to my colleagues!

Wow, great resources, thanks! Just took a pet 1st aid course. Got so much out of it, plus it was so adorable to have one of my pugs there as a canine volunteer. He was so good about being bandaged up for alot of the day!

Thank you for posting this excellent reference link on CPR. I am going to print it out and also check for the pet cpr classes at the ARC. I didn't know they did that. If ours does, I will be there for sure.
I am striving to be the kind of person my pug thinks I am.
