Default What does your pug weigh?

Hi I wanted some advice on what other peoples pugs weigh. I was told by the vet today that Jellybean was obese. I really don't think she is over weight at all for a pug (see photos) she weighs just over 9kg but she has a slim waist and is active and happy. Im yet to see a skinny pug and dont know whether to put her on a diet or not.

Mine is 7 months and weighs 6,8kg. His breeder said it wasn't that much and according to his parents his adult weight should be around 9. It's really hard to know what the ideal weight is because they're all genetically different. Loopy looks really small but he weighs almost 7kg which is some pug's almost adult weight.

Squig is about 9k Pickle is 5.5k. Squig is a bit fat, he finds it much harder to jump up on the chair than Pickle and he's really slow when we're out walking. They are fed the same amounts, he obviously has a slower metabolism and he is less active than Pickle as she is a bit of a maniac. Squig would be better at about 7k.

Can you show us a picture of Jellybean? That way we could see what her weight looks like on her build. Some vets just think all pugs should be skinny like a greyhound. Obesity depends so much on the height and build of each pug, so weight alone isn't always a good measurement. Our pugs weigh 18 & 19 pounds (8.16kg and 8.61kg) and the 18 pounder (Nilla, our fawn pug) is a bit chubby at that weight, whereas Wonka (our black pug) is perfect. Wonka is taller and leaner with more muscle, Nilla is shorter and more square in build and she's not as active.

My boy is 8.16, I th ink he is just short of 19 lbs.
For a male up tp 18 lbs is ok over that they are overweight but NOT obese.

It is sad but most pugs are over weight and some or really obese but yours does not sound like that.
the problem is they are always hungry and will eat just about anything and it is hard to not feed them too much.
With mine we walk a lot, even if I have to get uo a 5 in the morning we are walking.

My vet once told me that if your dog is over by 1 lb, it is like a many being 20 lbs overweight. that is over 8k

Mz Tilly does not normally let me reveal her weight but for a medical reason she has consented. She is 9kg/20lbs. She has always been roughly the same weight. Like you no vet had ever said she was overweight until the last time I took her. Then this kiddo right out of vet school said she should be 15lbs. I can already see her ribs, she has a V shape and is solid, not squishy (except her face LOL)
