    Default Puppy Strangles

Poor Miss Hadley... she turned 4 months this weekend and also came down with a nasty case of Puppy Strangles. I had a lab with this many years ago, but poor dear is so covered in these little nasty blisters :( She has them all over her head and face,in her ears, all four limbs and the ones on her tummy doubled overnight! A visit to the vet today granted her a $42 antibiotic injection and prednisone script. Hoping she will feel and look better very soon!!!

After looking it up I found this site, Pets Best Rx, which has testimonials on a product they sell for Puppy Strangles. Just thought I would pass it along in you wanted to give it a try.

My vet and I had a talk about this a few months back because I have a new puppy. He said it's very serious cause it can cause permanent scarring. Good luck with your little one.

I have heard of this in other breeds, but not pugs! Something else to worry about!

Seeing her healing nicely and feeling much better tomorrow!

Still struggling through this yucky Puppy Strangles issue. I guess we should be counting our blessings that she is feeling OK, eating, drinking, playing but just looks so gross. The tiny pimple like sores are healing very slowly but they cover so much of her little 6 lb body. When I run my hand across the top of her tiny head it feels covered in prickly scabs. :( On our 9th day of prednisone and in step down mode at one dose a day thank goodness it is summer! She is wetting so often and even on my bed two nights ago. I guess a trip to the laundromat was in order for my king comforter anyway :) Can't wait until she is soft and fluffy again. At 17 weeks she has made it through kennel cough and now this. Can't be a purebred thing, can it???

I just was reading this email and I am not sure what puppy strangles is, but my if I can remember back 6 month old pekignese started getting these blisters that oozed around her eyes and around her mouth got really red. I took her to the vet several times and she was on a few medications special food etc. I was thinking it was the beds, so threw out and bought new. It took about a month, but it was figured out it was the food I was giving her. Orjen, but it had to much protein for her. Maybe you would want to check into her food. (Just a thought)
