Default THOSE YUCKY HOTSPOTS......every dog here has had at least one and NOW PRU has one too.......

hotspots come on so fast it is unreal
first day a little swelling and a pin like mark
and the next day right out in full bloom..YUCK

putting on apple cider vinegar on Pru
read that on the net the one time it can clear them up fast..
used it when Max had his and it did really quick
did not use it for Gus or Zeus and wish I had.......

the vingear dries them out alot faster...
can not say enough about it
and the dogs do not mind it either..
but they do smell like salad for a bit days..lol

everyone of the dogs has had is on the neck
but Max and his was right on the back of his head near the bottom.....
    YUCK again

not sure what causes these....although I know heat does not help or stress either for them
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........

I like to use coconut oil for this too, it lubricates the skin and does not dry it out.
They smell like coconuts. I think these two things both are anti-inflammatory.

I drink ACV and spash some in his bowl, sometimes I mix it with the oil also.
These are great natural cures, most doctors don't want you to know about.

Keep that vet, I wish mine would suggest natural things he just want to write prescriptions.

I respectfully disagree that the hot spots need to dry up, when that happens it hurts the dog it will clear up very nciely when moist it will clear it up and just fade awasy read the following:
    Think about how vit. E heals since it is an oil base, it clears uo infections from within and contiunes out;
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fed regularly to pets, coconut oil may have multiple benefits:

    Skin Conditions:
•Clears up skin conditions such as eczema, flea allergies, contact dermatitis, and itchy skin.
    • Reduces allergic reactions and improves skin health
•Makes coats become sleek and glossy and deodorizes doggy odor
•Prevents and treats yeast and fungal infections, including candida
•Disinfects cuts and promotes wound healing
•Applied topically, promotes the healing of cuts, wounds, hot spots, dry skin and hair, bites and stings
    Digestion•Improves digestion and nutrient absorption
•Aids healing of digestive disorders like inflammatory bowel syndrome and colitis
•Reduces or eliminates bad breath in dogs
•Aids in elimination of hairballs and coughing
Immune System, Metabolic Function & Bone Health
•Contains powerful antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal agents that prevent infection and heart disease
•regulates and balances insulin and promotes normal thyroid function
    •Helps prevent or control diabetes
    •Helps reduce weight, increases energy
•Aids in arthritis or ligament problems

As always, before giving any new treat or supplement, talk to your holistic veternarian and incorporating coconut oil and coconut chips in your pets diet.
coconut oil is the only thing that helpedy boy's hot spots and they do not come back

I am not trying to say you are wrong it is just that I love our pugs and if I can find any way to make them happy then I am happy. I remembered back when I was young a large doberman (my girlfriend asked me to walk then she called him and he dragged me) he gave me such a scrape I had a large scab and it hurt so bad as it healed and dried up.

After that I found Vitamin E and anytime I got one of those scrapes I pout the wet Vit E oil on and it worked so well teaching me that moist can heal even better than any drying agent. Since the doggies cannot tell us it hurts I would rather use the oil.

    I am a bit of a softie I guess.

well it is drying out and now itchy says PRU
she somehow gets that tubby body.lol so that she can get her foot up there to scratch it
not going to put on an e collar on her with being a rescue and think the collar would bother the hotspot anyhow....
so keeping a close watch on her........to make sure she does not scratch

An old timer gave me some advice once and I listened to it:
Sometimes when a dog scratches his side it may not be allergies or a hot spot, he may get the hot spot from just itching but the itching my be that he has a mild ear infection.
I was told of a great product that is used to rinse out the pugs ears since their ears hang over and in summer it is worse. So when ever I see my boy scratching hid side I automatically give a good squirt of
ZYMOX, it can be bought at Amazon.com I first bought the small bottle and used only a few drops the first time, then I got the larger bottle, it is cheaper, and I poured it into the smaller one since it is a smaller spray. You just give a good squirt in each ear, but hold they little one since they will try to shake it out, hold for a short time then let go. Best to do outside.
See if the scratching stops soon, then you may have an infections starting. It may also be that they are just accumulating some wax and it needs to be flushed out. you can use this often it will not hurt it is just a cleanser.

Could they be having a reaction to the new dog food you got?
