    Hiya Freddy

I'm waiting for my puppy to come home still but I've got pug books coming out of my ears!

Snoring (...snorting, shedding and farting) seems to be all part of the puggy charm!

I've heard people say that they wouldn't be able to sleep without the sweet melody in the back ground!!!

As Ema mentioned, it's part of their charm! There may be a very small chance he has an elongated soft palate problem (MAYBE!!) which is fixed by a simple op if a SPECIALIST VET WHO KNOWS THE BREED WELL recommends it. How old is your puggy? If he is just a puppy and it is deemed necessary, it can be done during spaying/neuturing. It is a fairly common problem amongst pugs, and it is nothing to be too concerned about. Hopefully it is just the regular pug snoring!

Now, as you're obviously new to the forum, we'd love to know more about you and your puggy. Why not pop over to the "Meet and Greet" section and tell us all as we love meeting new people and their puggies!!

Hi. Snoring is totally natural due to the pug's squished nose. As Fourteen Legs said, in some cases it may be due to an elongated soft palate. I recommend being conservative when considering shortening a soft palate. And, definitely have a specialist do it. I would not feel comfortable performing the surgery. I would only recommend shortening the palate if it is causing noticeable respiratory difficulty. If it is just a little long and causing some upper respiratory tract noise, I wouldn't worry too much about it (unless it starts to cause a problem). I don't know if I could sleep without snoring now. If it was quiet, I'd wake up wanting to know what was going on.

Everyone has given you great feedback. One trick I've found when the snoring gets really loud (and it will ) is to be sure their head is flat. Hoover sleeps with us and sometimes puts his head on a pillow. When his head is elevated, the snoring it worse!

Angel snores like a freight train. I can't tell you how many times I nudge her at night to get her to wake up. It took me a while to be able to sleep through it.

I did find that benadryl seems to help her snoring - so I usually give her one before bed (the plain ole benadryl for allergies).

Jessie is a quiet snorer thank goodness.

I can't go to sleep if mine aren't snoring! If for some reason they quit in the middle of the night I have to look to see if there alright! Right now I have one under my feet snoring! It's about to put me to sleep!!!
