My Zoe is now 8 months old and she weighs 18.5lbs. She was eating twice a day (morning/night) and now I have cut her back to once a day because I am affraid that she is getting to heavy. I was wondering what the average wieght for a pug is? I really want to keep her at a healthy weight.
I think there all different, viv is 10 months and weighs 18 lbs, her mom and dad were small. Check with your vet, they will know better.

All pugs are different. There is no set weight - it depends on how your dog looks and feels. There is a breed standard of 14 to 18 pounds, but many pugs are larger (and a few are smaller).

She may just be a larger pug. Some of them are 25 or 30 pounds naturally. I would ask your vet before cutting the food down to once a day. From what I've heard, twice a day is a better idea, in terms of keeping her blood sugar stable and keeping her from feeling like she's starving half the day. If she's definitely getting too heavy, just feed her less at those meals (we only feed 1/3 cup at each meal) or find a food with less calories.

Rollo is male and weighs 20 lbs. He eats 1/4 of kibble 2xs daily. I also give him treats . Male pugs usually weigh more than the females.
Cindy mom to Rollo his royal pugyness!
If it were me, I'd be feeding two smaller meals, instead of just one meal a day. Seems like they would be more satisfied, even if they aren't actually eating more.

Always and forever missing her Oscar.
I think it depends. My Ozzy is 23 lbs and Chopper is 16-17 lbs. Ozzy isn't overweight he is just a bigger boy.
I would go with feeding 2x a day. My boys get a 1/2 cup in the AM & 1/2 cup in the evening & a few treats throughout the day.
