Default What age when they stop growing?

Scarlet will be 7 months tomorrow and to me she looks like a full-grown pug. I met someone with 2 pugs (named pebbles and bambam...hysterical!) and she said they grow until they are about 1 1/2 years old? If she keeps growing at this pace, she'll be the size of a German Shepard. Although I'd love her regardless, I'm just sort of curious when she's going to be all grown up :)

Also, out of nowhere she's started shaking her leg when you scratch (like dogs do when they're ticklish) her...and she's thrown up 2 times in the middle of the night in the last 2 weeks...plus her personality has gotten a little less "goofy"...is this normal...I'm a pug-hypochondriac...I swear I'm not like this about myself...I just don't know what I'd do if something happened to her...my only friend with pugs has seizures, so any time she does something weird it stresses me out.

Okay, I know it's long...thanks so much for the help!

i'm not sure what the right answer is, but my vet told me that winston stopped growing in height at around 8-10 months and would continue to "fill out" until about 1.5 - 2 years old. he is still very fit and active and i would love to keep him that way. he is currently around 17-18 pounds, which i think it great for a pug.

winston does the leg shaking thing too! he also throws up occasionally. my vet said that some dogs throw up once a day and that can be normal. you should get worried if you see blood in it or if scarlet looks lethargic and is not eating/drinking.

i think she's fine! very cute too!

Big dogs take longer. Your little one will be just about there at ten months. Then they fill out. If they're spayed/neutered they don't develop the bone or fill out as much as intact dogs. But ten months is it, more or less.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but we were curious about this topic. Our female pug was born in mid-May 2009, which would put her at about 10 1/2 months. She weighs about 14 pounds. She has grown fast in recent months, but still seems smaller than other pugs at meet-ups, etc. Can we expect her to mostly "grow out" at this stage, rather than getting longer and taller?

Her mother has a relatively (i.e, for a pug) slender build and weighs maybe 15 pounds, we believe. Not sure about her father's size.

Is she spayed yet? If she is she will likely grow taller still and be more lanky generally, and if she isn't and you don't spay until 1.5-2 years she should just fill out more and stay fairly square.

Thanks MandyPug. She was spayed at 6 months.

She weighed 5 pounds when she was 11 weeks old. When she was 5 months old, her weight was 11 pounds. We think she's put on about a pound in the last month.
