What kind of things other than regular dog food does everyone feed their puggies? Sergei gets Cheerios, carrots and cheese (rarely)
Heidster, living with "king of the house" SERGEI
Lola gets cheese, pumpkin and sometimes yogurt.
Kerrie, Lola and new foster failure brother Logan
Poached chicken breast, or turkey breast, cheddar cheese, carrot, plain yogurt (non-fat, no sugar) and his kibble!
Viralmd, Cyril (aka Aljac Captain Hook CGC) and Tassie, the rescue chihuahua
Harley gets cheese, chicken, carrots, 'schmackos' (kind of like a doggy beef jerky thingy), yoghurt, all in moderation though.
Shelley, mum to darling Harley
Lemon gets tons of Simon & Huey tiny training treats, chicken breast and yogurt every day. Cheese, she doesn't get as often now that we're not in obedience class.

Cheese (in moderation--Bud, like his mother, has a weight problem), yogurt, pumpkin, cheerios, and carrots. When we really go crazy, they get cookies from a dog bakery out of Charlottesville, which makes dog "cookies" from people-quality ingredients (when you walk in their store, they have samples for the humans to taste).
Benny Bully liver, poached chicken breast, Natural Balance rolls cut into pieces, carrots, brockley and strawberries.
And....on very special occasions, treasts from Bark and Fitz.

Katie will kill for cheese. She doesn't get as much as she used to. Axel is picking up on the cheese jones too. We gave him a pill wrapped in some cheese the other day and it was down in no time. Mostly they get Meaty Bone training treats.
On rare occasion maybe clean up an Ice cream bowl.

Oh my goodness...after reading all these posts, I feel like a bad mamma to Curlie-Mamma....I am hesitant to write (but unwilling to fib as maybe you guys need to straighten me out for the good of C.M.'s health) that Curlie begs for and gets little bits of almost everything we eat (except chocolate - I have read the stories and we are not THAT bad!). She loves tidbits of marshmallows, tiny pieces of pizza, little bits of ham, and has been even known to gulp down wasabi behind my back (who knew pugs could climb on tables??)....Do I need an intervention program? (Seriously - I would hate to be harming her just because we find it very difficult to say no to her in our quest to make life fantastic for her post rescue.)

Bobbie, you've come to the right place for a smackdown.Junk food is *very* bad for pugs. From the stories I've heard, trust me, you don't want to end up in the ER with a bad case of pancreatitis. Fatty food can get them there in a flash, and even a tiny piece can be too much for a 15 or 20 pound pug. And it's not just chocolate that's toxic -- grapes, raisins, onions, coffee, avocados... there's probably a thread about it in this forum.
Not all people food is bad. Veggies are great, especially if you put them in the food processor (makes 'em easier to digest). Poached chicken breast and cheese are popular training treats around here. 1 T. of yogurt every day has helped many a pug avoid ear infections. Pure canned pumpkin can help with anal glands. And chicken or ground beef and rice is great when getting over tummy upset. Beyond that? You might want to ask here first.
It's so hard to look at those big brown eyes and say no! But it'll help your girl live longer and feel better. Try to buy some healthier treats and see how she does with those. My guess is, she won't turn anything down.![]()
