    Default Heat is OUT

    OKAY!

Dad came over today to realize that my heat pump is frozen solid. My heat still works, however not as warm and I and franklin usually like it. (about 76) right now we're barely pushing 72...and mommy is freezing her butt off. (franklin is sleeping on his blanki)... He won't sleep in my bed with me. but his crate I'm afraid he'll get chills..I sound like an idiot..I mean he has fur...but I"M FREEZING and I can't see him being that much warmer than I am right now.

My question is where do I put him or what do I do to keep him warmer tonight until dad can get back over here to fix this issue in the AM?? I have a little space heater??? If i point in his direction will this suffice? or what?

LOL.....I keep my house at 64 at night...and 67-68 during the day!

He'll be fine!! Put a blanket in the cage so he can snuggle in. If you're worried about him...you can also cover 3 sides and the top of the cage.

As long as you put a blanket in it, he'll be fine in his crate. The crate itself will warm up from his body heat. What sort of temperature do you think it will get to tonight? Are the sides of his crate solid? If they are mesh, throw a blanket over it leaving the front open for ventilation. Do NOT point a heater at him, he could overheat and can't escape when he is in the crate.

I live in Alaska, and my heat is permenently set at 65. I don't even bother with a jacket until it dips below 50.

It's morning now, and I'm sure you did fine. We keep our house at 65 durning the day and 63 at night. We drape a quilt over 3 sides of Winston's crate at night to help keep him warm. He seems warm enough when I let him out in the morning.

It's funny how your body can get accustomed to lower temps. Because of the high heating bills this year, we've kept our house at 63 unless the grandkids come over. We turn it up to 68 for them and it actually seems "hot" for us. Tilly has a disk that we put in the microwave for 5 minutes each night to warm it up and she sleeps with it.
