Question What kind of carrier should I get?

Crate/carrier/carseat. We homeschool our kids so we go out a lot as family and, when we can, we travel (by car) with DH for work. We plan to have Ollie attend most of the things we do, like visit people, parks etc., as well as hotels. I want to be able to safely bring him with us in a crate/carrier type thing. He has his bigger crate (its a wire one that is 26 or so inches) that I have used thus far and it is really hard to get in and out of the car. In DH's work van we took out the middle seat, and the three kids sit in the back row with Ollies crate where the middle seats would be. Its not the safest for the kids or dog and its a pain. In my van I have to take out a car seat and my son has no place to sit. I kind of like my son and want him to be in our family outings . I am willing to get something for the cars to keep for them and/or something to take that we can bring in places so he will feel safe and secure if he needs his own time. I would love to find something that fits up to 25lbs. soft type carrier that can be a carseat that opens up on top and front. I am, however, very open to your always very wise suggestions. Ollie is currently 19 lbs, and is 7 months old.

    I use 18x18 in crates.

If Kelev rides in the front with me...I have a car harness that attaches to the seat belt.

Diane, where do you find 18x18 crates? That'd be a great size for my tiny car.
