    Exclamation Coconut Oil & Demodex

Lets make a long story short. Frito had a small red mark on his front leg, I thought it was a scratch or a bite from playing. I flipped him over this afternoon to rub his belly an found two of the same spots on his rear leg. Off we go to the vet! Turns out Frito has Demodex. The scrape showed no eggs, and very few live adult mites, so he is fighting it off on his own.

But then I realized, I stopped giving them Coconut Oil about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks ago due to my own laziness. And they say Coconut oil is wonderful for the immune system. Demodex strikes when the immunity is low. Now its got me wondering......................

I guess the Coconut Oil is continuing, I shouldnt have messed with a good thing!
    Hugs,
Renee, Junior, Frito, Elliot, Squirt & Rocco

Poor Frito! I think he and Lucy were meant to be. LOL They can tell their tales together.

The vet didn't opt to give him a shot?

Lucy says to tell Frito she did not give him bugs!!

Anyway, sorry Frito has demodex. I got a little lazy with the coconut oil too and Lucy started to itch a bit. I'm still a bit paranoid about her getting demodex again so we're back on the coconut oil and so far so good.

No Sam She didnt want to give Invermectin if it wasnt absolutely necessary. He has a shampoo to use once a week and a topical ointment. They were not too concerned since the adults were dying and there were no eggs.

Renee is the best foster mom. I want to be incarnated as one of her pugs. They have the good life.
