    Default Question for a friend?

My girlfriend called me tonight a little frantic. She has Reagan a 4 yr babe she rescued a couple years ago. I pug sit him once a week. She noticed tonight that he had a little bit of green discharge coming from his private. I have never expirienced this so I figured I would ask you all.. What could this be?

I asked if he was acting normal, peeing normal etc.. she said yes...

That might be ENTIRELY normal - prostatic secretions. They can be yellow-green. If there's no indication that he has a UTI, it's likely that he's just fine. But if there's straying from housetraining or blood in the urine or it has a foul odor, off to the vet!

Thanks Viralmd.. My friend had to run off to her 2nd job tonight and she was a little bit of a mess with worry.. I will tell her what to look for, my boys have never had any such discharge.. Luckily he is with his auntie (her roomie) to look after him and make sure it's nothing..

Taz happens to have that same problem quite often. My vet gave me a solution that I can squirt in there with a syringe that does not have a needle on it. I squirt a little in it then try to massage the fluid inside then I have to try and push the remaining fluid out. This helps to flush it. Taz is a weirdo and doesn't seem to mind my doing it.

Please try not to flush the urethra too often - the urinary tract, under normal conditions is STERILE. Unless you're maintaining sterile conditions and using sterile water or saline, there's a real possibility of producing a urinary tract infection! When catheters are placed in people, because the tract is sterile, it's done using aseptic technique.
