    Default Venison?

Any puggies currently on a venison based diet?

I bought Wellness' Simple Solutions Venison dog food today. Any other puggies eat this or Wellness' Duck dry food? How do they do on it?

I want to see if this helps Marley with his sensitive tummy, gland issues, allergies, etc. Im going to slowly switch him from his old food and his chicken and rice that he used to get with every meal to this one. i feel bad because hes always been a picky eater hence why i have to give him chicken and rice but maybe its that that is causing the problem? i guess if hes hungry enough he'll eat

    thanks!

We tried a couple of the Wellness kibbles and everyone did well except Bob.
Bob got REALLY gassy. I don't know if he was suffering, but we sure were!

Bob also doesn't handle duck well--but he's only had duck meat--not a duck kibble.

We use the simple solutions venison and Max and Gabby have no problems with it. We are also transitioning to raw. Max is allergic to everything except chicken and venison. The raw chicken is no problem, but the raw venison upsets his stomach immediately. He can't get two steps away from the bowl without tossing.

Please be VERY careful with both raw chicken and venison. US poultry is FILTHY with both Salmonella and Campylobacter. And stomach acid isn't always sufficient to kill these organisms, not to mention that they can be spread by not thoroughly washing hands (remember Typhoid Mary? Well, Salmonella typhi is the bug she was spreading!). And as for the venison - please freeze it solid for at least 24h to kill at least SOME of the parasites!

i havent started the transition yet. first im taking him off his cooked chicken and rice. i feel like such a mean mommy today was his first day without chicken and rice. i could tell he was thinking, "what the @#%# is this?!" when i just gave him his i/d kibble. he prolly hates me!! i just want to see if all along its those two things thats causing his problems/issues. i really doubt it but we'll see.

A lot of people feed raw chicken because (in theory - not always in practice) the bones are not brittle and are digestible. The necks seem to be particularly popular...But this is just a caution, because WE should cook OUR chicken (and all poultry) thoroughly. In talking with my veterinarian colleagues at work, who are poultry and cattle vets, they say that the reason that US poultry is so contaminated is that the method used for slaughtering and gutting the birds is the problem...

I feed my Roxie venison. I had tried the Wellness venison but she didn't like it. I am now feeding her Natural Balance venison and brown rice. She is doing great on the Natural Balance and she loves it!

We've fed the Natural Balance Venison & Brown Rice in the past & my gang did really well on it & seemed to like it. I still mix a little bit of the canned in with their current kibble every now & then.
