Default Speaking of Elongated Soft Palate surgery...prices?

Can folks tell me what they paid or what prices they were quoted for this surgery? PugSavers has been lucky and we have not had to face the issue of having a pug that needed the surgery before, but we are getting quoted prices way above what we could afford. ($2,000 upward....waaaay upward!)

    Thanks!

Roxane, I don't have any personal experience, but if you're in contact with Tina at Pugs N Pals, they've got the complete lowdown on ESP surgery and pricing in the SoCal area. She gave me some recommendations once. I think they've got one vet who works with the rescue regularly who discounts his prices to under $1,000 for the surgery.

Today, when I asked at the vet, (after being told Emmet should have the surgery), they said anywhere between $300-600--I guess they don't know what it will all entail until they take a look in there.

(Keep in mind, I also learned today that this vet, which is in a less-swanky ZIP than the vet I've gone to all of my life, charges MUCH less for things like shots--e.g., 3 year rabies at pricey vet: $39; this vet: $16; distemper parvo: $48 vs. $8! WOW! Defnitely worth the 20 minute drive, esp. since the vet himself specializes in bracycephalic breeds! )

Reggie could use the surgery, too, but I've been balking at the price.

Daisy had it done in early May. The resection was $120, 1/2 day hospitalization $58.70 and anaethesia $145 (used also for dental work and spay). Total was $323.70 plus tax Canadian. Daisy was in rescue foster at the time and I'm sure he invoicd us on the low side of his charges, plus he also didn't charge for 7 of the 11 dental extractions.

Pugsley is having this surgery tomorrow. Our vet is giving us a huge discount for our rescue. Around 200.00, so I don't know what it would regularly cost. It's going to be worth it for this guy!!! He's finally lost enough weight to have the surgery!!!!!!

My vet just quoted me around $300 for the surgery. The surgery alone is $175 then you have to add the anesthesia and other surgery items.

A vet in Minnesota was quoting $1500 for the surgery. My vet said the old office where she worked would probably have charged $600.
