I have a related question. Considering how much most adult pugs love to eat and how little interest they have in exercise, why aren't they all as big as Pot-Bellied Pigs?

Jimbo will soon be 6 and would walk a lot more if it weren't so hot outside. Rosebud will be 14 in January and Gumdrop is app. 11 and they're losing all interest in walking, regardless of the weather. All three have healthy appetites but they're not fat.

My guys will stay alert if there's anything going on that interest them. If not, on a normal day, they snooze off and on for most of the day...and sleep like little bears at night.

Rosebud is deaf and sleeps so hard she often scares me...it's hard to wake her. She's our alarm clock though, every morning without fail she wakes up ready and raring to go and the first order of business is to play and jump around on the bed like a puppy.

That's what happens in our house too!!! Heaven forbid we have a busy weekend and they don't get their usual sleeping done. When Monday morning rolls around, they're so happy to see me go to work so they can get back to sleeping that I swear they'd push me out the door if they could!!!

And good lord if I take a sick day or day off of work. I get griped at all day cuz I'm home and they're not getting their sleep!!

If Pete and Bob don't get their 18 hours, they're just no good. Actually, Pete and Bob would prefer 20 hours.

Percy will go to bed at 7:00 at night and most days I have to wake him up at 7:00 in the morning and put him out so I can feed him and the others. By the time he rolls out of bed everyone has been walked. It's not unusual for him to sleep over 12 hours. Once he's eaten he goes for his walk then it's back to bed. When I die I'm coming back as a pug.

dizzee did not get the memo about pugs sleeping all day!
she's good for 7-8 at night, 1-2 during the day, and another hour in the evening.

i go to school at night so i'm with her all day. my sister is with her at night so she's only home for maybe an hour or two alone.

are your pugs sleeping this much even when you're home?

Gizmo doesn't like to sleep if i am moving around the house. Wait, let me rephrase that... he LIKES to sleep, but can't so he gets moody with me. He doesn't always need to be near me for his naps, but goodness shame on me for wanting to get off the couch at any point in time.

Gizmo gets close to 16-20 hours of sleep depending on what is going on, the weather, etc. he is only 19 weeks but he plays hard when he plays and it tuckers him out fast.

Thats not fair! You guys are sooo lucky!! I wish i could get 16 hours of peace a day!!

Delilah is soooo active!! She wants to be doing everything!!! She gets about 7-8 hours of sleep at night, and may have another hour or so in the evening if she's on a lap but if any of us (or the dogs) move she's up and barking She just has to be so busy all the time!!

Is it because she's still just a baby maybe??

Mine do , they just sleep with one eye open so they can see what I'm doing.

At least for Stoli, that's not all in a row. It's off and on throughout the day.
