Default Pugs, pills and mashed potato

Hattie is currently on antibiotics (she has developed spots and sore places on her tummy and the tops of her legs, possibly caused by going on muddy walks in our cold wet weather). Our vet thinks it will clear up quickly, but it is never the easiest thing in the world to get Hattie to take any medication.
I have just discovered that a very tiny amount of re-heated mashed potato, served on a saucer, with the pill (1/4 of a tablet, so pretty small) hidden in it, actually seems to work. Or at least it did, this evening!
Just another thought for those of us who have problems persuading our pugs to take their medication.

You can put it in the middle of regular bread. Or you can buy a pill beef treat container, I got it from the vet. Good luck

Bread, even with butter on, is unfortunately a non-starter with Hattie. If it has honey on she will eat it, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that honey is not good for dogs? Alice (ViralMD) will of course know whether this is correct or not.
Cheese will sometimes be acceptable to little madam, as will chicken, but not always, and I am convinced she knows if there's a pill in anything.

Oh Hattie. You should be better about taking your pills! Hope it clears up soon.

I try various things with Snifters worming pills. Last time I hid them inside globs of Philadelphia cream cheese and he snarfed it down no problem.

That'd never work for Cyril. I use the three gobs of (cream) cheese method, giving one after the other quickly, with the pill in the second gob.

I do the cream cheese once and that does the trick. Messy, but it does work. The only problem is I have to do two, one for each, whether they are getting the pill or not. Otherwise I have a very jealous pug.

Cream cheese works wonders in our household.
A friend of mine uses the mini pancakes you buy in the box.
    Works great for her!

Otto likes a mini chicken sandwich for his pills. I put a tiny piece of bread, the pill, and then a bigger piece of chicken together and he gobbles it down. What helps, though, is to give him a fake one or two first, then the pill-ed one, and then let him see a few more pieces of chicken on a plate. He'd swallow anything quickly to get to the chicken on the plate. That's one time a pug's greediness is a true asset!
