    Default Pug's and runny noses??

I have a question regarding my Pug's runny noses...
It seems like every morning when they get up they both have runny noses as if they have a cold, is this normal? Also, my new boy, Bear has had 2 episodes, both right as we're going to bed, where he has started wheezing and acts as if he is having trouble swallowing, It lasts for about 5 minutes and then he's fine. (Both times he had been playing quite rambunctiously with his sister before this happened).
He was just at the Vets for a complete health check and neuter and checked out just fine so I'm wondering if this is just a "Pug thing"?!
Please give this nervous new Puggie Mom your input

So is it an allergy sort of thing? I was kinda wondering if that might be the problem and was getting ready to go buy some special laundry soap and wash all the bedding, lol!

My boys quite often have wet looking noses. If the liquid is clear I think there's nothing to worry about. If it is thick and green or yellow then you could have a problem.

It may not be an allergy thing - as far as I know allergies would typically cause itching and gunky eyes as well as a runny nose and sneezing issues. I would not personally go giving Benedryl without the vets sayso for the symptoms you are describing.

Do a search on here for "reverse sneeze". Pugs do this a lot. They make a sort of honking sound and it seems as if they can't catch their breath. It is over quite quickly and whilst scary to witness, especially if you haven't seen it before, it is a fairly normal occurrence. It may be that Bear has been reverse sneezing.

snifter, thank you for saying that i i posted i realized that her puppy could have different symptoms than mine. My boy has allegries according to the vet and he is very shy about it.. when he hides, rubs his face and sneezes out snot then he gets the bendryl.. thank you for correcting me..

i had that question once too, because someone scared me and told me it was the kennel cough.

if it's clear don't worrie about it, but if it's green or yellow than you should make a appointment with a vet.

my bug get runny nose all the time and he's in perfect health :)

Thank you all very much for your replies! Snifter, I looked up reverse sneezing and watched a couple of videos on YouTube and that's exactley what Bear does!! Very scary stuff when you don't know the whole history on your newest child! I am wondering if cigarette smoke could have caused this too? The poor little guy just reeked of smoke when he came here and I know that can't be good on thier little lungs! ( We are a smoke~free home!)
Well we go to the Vet for boosters soon so I'll talk to him about this and in the meantime, thankyou all so much and have a great day!

Just an "aside"... I was sitting with Niko (my snortiest) on my lap last week, in the afternoon sun... and she heard "something" and perked up, letting out little oofs (not as big as a woof, and not even a wooo woo woo)... and the spray that came off that face! It went in all directions! It was because the light was behind her (into my eyes) that I could see the fine mist being shot in nearly 360 degrees with each oof!...

    Sheesh... cute, but... startling!

I hope you have been adapting to Rosie and she to you.
