If it is a fatty lipoma, which can change in size, leaving it be is always my vet's advice.
Baxter (the Dalmatian/Lab) has one on the right side of his rib cage. Our Doc says let it be, get some weight off him, and take a peek at it every so often.

Totally agree with you on what each vets says - my non-pug dog used to get them all the time and BELIEVE IT OR NOT - they said "squeeze them" to see if they are hard or not - if they are hard - get the dog into the vet asap. If they are not - just keep on squeezing them! *EWWWWWWWWWW*

I just wonder why they cant totally express a cyst with a biopsy needle you know? Even in humans they have to put you under the knife. Just dont get it! can anyone explain that to me?!

Btw hope the baby feels better

If you express/drain the cyst, usually it will refill/reoccur. Removing the 'shell' and the vasculature that feeds it removes that possibility ... as well as removing the stimulus that began the cyst.

Suki just had a lipoma removed from her leg (thigh) last Friday. It had changed in size from when I first noticed it a few weeks before. The vet did a needle biopsy and it showed fat cells, BUT because of where the tumor was located, it was difficult for the vet to get a good hold of it so she could be sure she got a sample from the center of the tumor. Suki is also at the perfect age for Mast Cell Tumors. We opted to remove it while it was still small rather than wait for it to get larger. My vet's philosophy is that if a lump changes in size either way, it comes out. Suki had her surgery at 9:00 a.m., was awake and alert at 10:15 and we picked her up and brought her home shortly after 12:30. I am 100% glad I had the vet remove it rather than have to keep watching it and worrying about it. For me, peace of mind is a beautiful thing.
