Smile PugVillage Community Update - PLEASE READ:)

    Hello PV members!

We hope all is going well with everyone and that the sunshine has touched your homes as much as we are getting it up here in Toronto:) We just wanted to post an update regarding leadership at the Village and as well as updates to up and coming happenings here!

Firstly, just to clarify, we at Offleash Media are the current owners and webmasters of PugVillage. Karl, Susan (Hunter’s Mom), Jacqueline (Rosiepug) and Bella (Snifter) form the PugVillage moderator team that will continue to monitor and lead the forums and maintain the current rules and flow of the forums!

Don (DonandPug), Michael (Millie’sMichael) and Ann (M’Dear Pug) have recently stepped down from their posts as moderators, but will remain as valued members of PugVillage. We would like to offer them our sincerest thanks for all their contributions, support and leadership during their tenure as mods and leaders of PV. Don and Michael stepped down due to the fact that they no longer felt that they had the available time to dedicate to their roles as mods - decisions which we respect and support. All three will be greatly missed as part of the mod team but we very much look forward to continuing to hear from them often as members:)

Here are just a taste of some of the up-and-coming events/additions to PugVillage!

    • PugVillage 2011 calendars announcement will be made in the next few weeks – everyone please start compiling those adorable pug pics!
    • Pug of the Month – coming soon, we will be updating the homepage and adding a featured Pug of the Month on the front page – details to come!
    • Suggestions for forum features/upgrades – we will be focusing on improvements to the forums based on your suggestions! Please let us know of the features/fixes/ideas that you’ve always had for PV and we will add them to our list as well! Please follow this link to list your ideas - http://pugvillage.com/forum/question...ml#post1407504

Happy summer everyone and thank you for your continued support, loyalty and friendship! we are honored to be part of such a fun and friendly community at PugVillage:)

    Warmest regards!

    Here's my take:

There are people who have left who I will really miss and there are people who are still here that I really love, so I don't want to go anywhere.

I think there are enough pugs out there for there to be a hundred pug sites and we can all belong to whichever ones we want.

I don't have anything against any other site and I don't see why most people should have anything against PV--if they don't like it, that's ok.

But I am here for the pugs in whatever small way I can be. I truly do miss some of the wise and seasoned pug owners that have chosen to go elsewhere but there are still folks like Diane, Bethy, Rosie, Bella (and I know I am leaving people out and I am sorry!) who have a world of pug knowledge that they share.

I am grateful for them and for everyone else who posts here.

But Admins, really--you at least need to get a couple of pugs.

    Let the fun begin,
I love the PV Calendar and must start thinking about suitable photo's to submit.

Thank you both for the new energy you breathe into the Village, it's a pleasure volunteering along side!

I had no idea that we could be bought or sold. I must have missed something on Craigs List. For myself, I feel betrayed. As for having a featured pug of the month, there are more than a thousand registered members and assuming each member has at least one pug, how would you choose. The idea will make some washed and others not, rather like trying out for eighth grade cheerleading. It's an idea that needs to go away.

And there are PVers who are coattail CurlTail relatives ... and have no pugs at all. How is it in the interest of the Community to exclude and slight those members.

The transition from Dante to Karl was within the family, as it were ... now the site is 'Owned' by an outside entity?? Makes me wonder if paid membership is far behind.

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should just relax and get used to the idea.

Why are we here? Because of our love of pugs, I would guess, and because we have come to like each other and the community here. I don't post or not post because of who owns the site--I post because I just love it here.

I haven't felt betrayed--Dante had a kid to put through college, Karl and Susan have their own reasons and are certainly entitled to sell the site if they want and I haven't seen discernible difference in how the site is run.

No one has mentioned paid membership so why do we even go there?

I thought the Pug of the Month idea was cute until I read Ellen's and Anne's takes on it, and I see their point.

I don't have a horse in this race except that I love PV and want it to continue, and I appreciate that the owners--be it Dante, Karl and Susan or Admins--are trying new ideas like Pug of the Month, calendars, etc.

Divisiveness is what a lot of people wish for PV and I don't want to give anyone the satisfaction.
