Default Does your Pug (Dog) always want what the other one has?

Ok well I felt terrible for my furkids today. We had the carpets cleaned so we confined the dogs to the laundry room with access to the doggie door to the backyard. So the carpets are dry now and I let the kids out fed them and gave them all their favorite chewie the "busy rollhides" And I give out 5 (My Bandit doesnt like rawhides) 4 of my 5 settle down and chow down. Even Harley will protect his and give a growl (which he NEVER does) but everyone else will give theirs up if any of the others try to steal it. But Roxy licks hers a couple times and then goes from dog to dog to try to steal theirs. Then if they give her theirs and then touch hers she runs up and growls to take it back. But then they go back to their origional one and she runs back up to take it. And it just keeps going. They all get the EXACT same chewie why MUST she have whatever they have? Why cant she just be happy with hers?

All I can say is this. I feel your pain.

Oz always wants what Jack has. Even is he has the same thing. And if Jack gives it up and moves on to something else. Oz wants that, too. We try to redirect Oz with a toy and play with him, which will keep him occupied as long as we keep playing with him. But as soon as we stop he goes right back to barking at Jack and Jack growls and tries to nip at him. Sadly, a lot of the time we just have to take the rawhides away, and not let either of them have one.

I don't have an answer, just wanted you to know that you aren't alone!

Yep! I don't even bother buying 2 of anything anymore, because they ditch one and fight over the same one, saves money I guess :D

You're definitely not alone! Buster ALWAYS steals whatever Mimi has. She's always good natured about it and goes and gets something else and he steals that. It makes no difference if it's the same thing, new or old. If Mimi has it, Buster wants it. He will actually carry the items one at a time to his bed and lay on them while he chews on the latest stolen item. This way she can't steal it back. Mimi has gotten pretty good at decoying him now. She grabs an item she doesn't want, he steals it and she steals back the item she wanted. We have many hours of entertainment watching them. So far no knock out, drag out fights over anything. I do separate them when I give a special treat so Mimi can enjoy hers without the "swiper" around.

Must be an Alpha dominance thing. I just chuckle when I imagine what it must be like at your house with all of those dogs! Don't get me wrong! I would LOVE those kind of problems! As it has been said, "The more I get to know people, the more I love my dog!" I would love to be surrounded by lots and lots of dogs, cats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, . . . OK, now I sound a little crazy, don't I? hee hee!
