Default TAKING PICS OF PUGS "help"

I love taking pics our "4" pugs. However I seem to get the blue or white eye affect.
We have a digital camera (NOT A SLR) that hassome manual controls but we keep it in auto most of the time. We are not to technical so will need some help how to take good pug pics.

Does the camera have red eye reduction? I don't know if that helps or not. With 4 I imagine that with a photo of all of them, someone will have white eyes - their retinas are much more reflective than ours, and you are bound to catch a reflection off one of them. Try to use natural light, then you won't get the flash.

Outdoor pics in natural day light are always the best photos!

    Outdoor photo

    VS indoor photo

Both taken on the same setting at the same time of day! I get most of my good photos outside! :D

When photographed indoors the mind control powers become evident in the eyes.

I'd suggest a medium coloured background (for a little contrast but not bright white) and if you're not outside on a sunny day, surround with multiple indirect light sources. Bounce the flash off a reflector, or even the ceiling if you can redirect it.
