    So sorry to hear about Otis, I hope he begins to heal, I would ask for some pain meds so he can sleep. he should not be whimpering from pain.

    I'm sorry that you & Otis are going thru this....maybe I'm wrong here, but I'm thinking after surgery he should be slowly but surely getting better & better--not worse.....bless your heart for watching out so closely for him & making sure that your vet keeps a close on him! Sending hopes & prayers that Otis turns the corner soon & starts feeling better! Sending along prayers, too, that his pathology report is a good one. Sending many HUGS too!

    Well, I am pleased to report that Otis is on the mend. It will be a very long recovery. The wound is not "stitchable" so it is a very large (about 3" around) open area down to the muscle that needs to granulate in. He will be wearing a bandage for months the vet said. But he is back to eating and smiling and playing "bunny" at night so we are feeling a lot happier around here. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts. Again, they worked.

    I can't agree with this more!!! As a former vet tech I cannot believe that he isn't on some sort of pain management after such an invasive surgery!!! PLEASE, PLEASE get him on something other then the Bufferin, (which is a blood thinner and could possibly hamper his healing). If you are afraid he will be over active on the meds I'd suggest kenneling or an X-Pen, but I honestly think that this early after the surgery he will not be doing any Pugtonas, but will be able to rest comfortably and heal quicker ( ;
    Sending big hugs to sweet Otis and wishing him a speedy and pain free recovery!
