As you may recall I had posted that our oldest pug Otis has a mast cell tumor and was having surgery. Poor Otis looks awful but his surgery went okay. We just feel awful because he is so sore and swollen in that leg (the tumor was on the outside of his front elbow). They had to take so much tissue that there is a big dent there. He is obviously not feeling great. He limps. We know of a case where a dog was given pain pills after surgery but it just made the dog more active than he should have been and it caused major damage (broken leg was the issue). The wound on Otis is uncovered and incredibly icky to look at. We won't get the pathology results until next week but it was a big tumor, the vet said. Please do keep our Otie in your thoughts.![]()

Prayers for you and Otis
poor Otis.....I'll keep him in my prayers for a good recovery......
these things often look worse in the beginning.....My Junior was cut up like a patchwork quilt when he had a MCT surgery, they removed something like 7 or 8 at once......
but he recovered well.....
my vet wanted me to dab peroxide on the stitches, but i used a spray bottle instead, it was easier, and more effective

We never touch people so lightly that we don't leave a trace.
Prayers for negative pathology and an uneventful recovery.

All positive thoughts to Otis and you!!
So glad that the surgery is done and went well!!!! Poor Otis!! Each day will be better...you'll be surprised!!!! Seeing a good report!
Please don't feel that I am critical, but I would think that at least on the day of surgery and the day after that what ever pain med the doc ordered would be ok to use. I'm being a patient advocate here. Surgery hurts.
So glad that Otis has this behind him.
