Roobee is heading back to the rescue. Apparently she hasn't peed or pooped since her arrival on Wednesday, she chases the cat, and her 'energy level' is too high for the family (wife is in a wheelchair). My heart is breaking or her. The pee and poop issue is so easily remedied, and I don't know how a pug that will lie on the sofa 24 hours a day unless forced to go out to do her business can have too high of an energy level. Chasing the cat, well, that I can definitely see.
I suspect that the family is overwhelmed and grieving the loss of their 14 year old lab, who would have adapted to the family situation as it evolved and not demanded much.
I've had a crappy day anyway and this is the proverbial straw, I've been crying on and off since I found out.
She won't be coming back to us -- the day she left she growled at and menaced Leto while he was asleep so it's not a healthy situation for either of him. But I will be following Roobee's story closely and will let you all know how she makes out.

darn that is not good news
bummer...even
hope she finds a better home then that..
thought rescue did good home checks for this before the dog is placed..
going to be confusing for Roobee
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........
I do hope that Roobee is just having a little bump in the road and will find the family that is perfect for him soon. I can imagine how sad you are but it is better he goes back to rescue then not be treated as he should be.

Air freight her here, I don't have a dog in the house that has problems peeing or pooping, unless you mean outside. America awaits you Roobee darlin'.
THIS IS NOT A COMMENT ON THE RESCUE HOME CHECK, but a lesson to us all----if a person in the house is in a wheelchair, help the situation by having a wheel chair find one at a thrift store and share it around the rescue)that the foster dog sees and is nonplussed by. Same with kitty cats, (I have one that I will Fedex North)----Ms Smidgen having grown hair, now needs to tone down her attitude so when I can get her there, she and I are going to sit in parking lots at WM seeing the big world. Sometimes applicants expect way too much from our fosters.
This is only the third dog in 195 that has been returned to UMWPR, their home check and reference checks are generally spot-on. They reject a fair number of families too, if they're not absolutely sure it will go well. This family came with sterling references from neighbours and a couple of vets and the interview and home check were absolutely fine. And it was the foster coordinator that did the interviews and the references, and she's been doing this for AGES. She knew all the questions to ask and how. There was obviously something going on under the surface -- Why we think it was a grief reaction, that the family truly believed that they were ready but were not, and that didn't come out till after Roobee was there.
Ellen I agree with you wholeheartedly about the wheelchair. Dogs find them confusing and many are afraid, especially if they're motorised. I had actually brought out my mom's chair and sat in it, and Roobee did not react, so I don't think that was the problem. As for the cat, I was up front about not having access to one, and nobody said boo... :(

I'm so sorry Roobee's home didn't work out but it wasn't meant to be. Thankfully, though, she is back in rescue and has the chance for the perfect furever family.
We never touch people so lightly that we don't leave a trace.
Since there was obviously something under the surface here, I am thrilled that she was returned to rescue before they ruined her. OTT--do you have any other news to share with us?
So sorry to hear this, but I hope it just means that an even better home awaits Roobee. We will be thinking of her and sending positive puggie vibes that the right home comes very soon for her.
Heather, you guys did SO much for her in the time that you fostered her. Please don't be hard on yourself just because this place wasn't the right home for Roobee. You are doing the right thing for Leto by protecting him and maybe being in a new foster home will give Roobee other experiences (with cats?) to make her an even more suitable match for the next prospective family. Sending you a hugYou did a wonderful job of guiding her and helping her while she lived with you.
