Thalia by jaysmom1361, on Flickr
Starfish Paws are a consequence of living years on zinc wire cage bottoms. The toes separate and spread without firm ground to grasp. It is the absolute identifier of a breeder held captive by a commercial group.
Bless her heart, what a sweet looking old lady. She certainly has come up in the world after a horrid start.

Bless her. I was horrified when Roobee lost enough weight and excess water that the true shape of her feet showed... she had almost a 150 degree angle between her first and fourth toes.
Please give Thalia a hug and a kiss from me.

In her expression I see such wonder: this thing called life must be such a mystery to these breeder dogs when they get "saved"...

Aww, what a beautiful senior.
Jackie,Mom to Robbie & Stacy my human children and Tinker my furkid.
When did Thalia pass? It was before my time. This is the first picture I have ever seen of her.
Bailey has starfish paws, but she has never had a litter and appears to have been spayed young. I suppose she just spent a lot of time on wire at some point in her life.
Take care,
Lisa

It must have been almost four years ago, that the wonder passed from her eyes. I prefer to remember not the petrified animal who could truly turn into stone, but the joyous singer of the morning. Her crowning moment, ambling to the door to take in power tools and a stranger----Thalia seemed so pleased that day to have something new to watch and take in.
Thalia was a beautiful grand lady. Thank you so much for the picture. It is amazing how they change when they are given love.
