So Tika's birthday is soon, she will be 1, and as I said before she is a little hyper so after Christmas, cookies, dinners, candies and all kind of sugars, we decided to start walking so we can get lose the weight that we both gain (we both need it) :) We started this Tuesday and I read that the ideal time is 30 minutes so we did it, she arrived tired but she kept playing with her toys, the day was sunny but not that hot, the second day was hotter and noticed that she got tired so I carried her, the others day I decided to go early in the morning so the sun will not bother Tika but I'm not sure about the distance, I guess that I was just thinking about the temperature, but, is it ok to walk her for 30 minutes? or is it too much for a pug?
Is she extremely over weight or just a little pudgy? Zoey needed to loose 7 lbs when we started, so I started her out at just 15 minutes. Just watch for signs of breathing problems and heavy panting. If she is not that overweight, I think 30 minutes is just fine. Zoey can now walk forever now that she is down to 18 lbs. Eddie will go even further. As for the heat, depending how hot it is, you might stick to early mornings or later in the evening when it is cooler.

30 minutes should not be too much for the fit pug in reasonable temperatures ... if she's new to fitness walks you might want to do 15 minutes to start, and increase the duration by a few minutes a week as her endurance improves. She might have gotten tired from the temperature, or because she had not fully recovered from the day before if she's not used to it (like a good gym workout!!). Our guys can do well over an hour with no problem and have energy to play a little (but not too rambunctiously) afterwards.
