Came home tonight to find 2 big poops in the house (surprised it was still there and Eddie didn't eat it). When I went to fill their bowls up I found the brand new 6 LB bag of Innova cat food opened and on the floor. Apparently DH didn't think that they would be able to open the bag themselvesand have a feast. So I weighed it and it now only ways 4 lbs. Phoned the vet and they recommend that they both do not get fed until tomorrow night, depending on the diarhea of course. Poor puppies have big swollen bellys, Eddie of course looks the saddest. When will he learn
I am doing the soak the food in water test to see just how much this food expands and so far it doesn't really. Could you imagine if I fed the cat cheap grocery store brand food and how they would feel? I think its gonna be a ****** night, lol. And its DH's birthday, would it be too mean of me to make him clean up the poops,

I'd say it would be a fitting birthday present, considering he left the cat food bag out! LOL

You're lucky they stopped, mine would have eaten the entire bag in order that the others couldn't have it. I'd have found exploded pugs all over the house when I came home.
Take care,

I am actually quite surprised that they did stop eating, but poor Ed is really really sad right now. I am going to keep a very close eye on him tonight. I think he ate the most. Zoey is all bouncy bouncy, but extremely thirsty. Betcha she put on a lb or two after that meal.

Just checking in to see how you, Ed & Zoey are this am?
Jackie,Mom to Robbie & Stacy my human children and Tinker my furkid.
Zoey is fine, I don't think she got alot of it, poor thing is still be restricted of food for the day. Eddie on the other hand I am a little concerned with. He is drinking tons of water, I am thinking of restricting it a bit for him, not really sure what to do. He also threw up on the bed early this morning. He snuck down stairs and drank more water, so I let him out hoping he would poop, but he just stood there gulping and licking the air. He was finally able to throw up and now seems to be okay. He does have very smelly farts though, and his poop is a little mushy. No diarhea though thank goodness. DH is going to stay home with him for awhile this morning just to make sure. I am going to talk to my boss and see if he can come to work this morning, DH can drop him off. She is not a dog lover so we shall see. I would take the day off, but I have just got a promotion with a generous wage increase and am just learning the ropes so I have to go to work. More money for the pugs vet bill, lol. Hopefully he is better today, we shall see. Thank you for your concerns.

I would not limit his access to water. The cat food may have a high sodium content and he is trying to balance his electrolytes. Also drinking water helps them throw up, and they know when they need to throw up. I would just continue to withhold food and let him work through it, preferably in an area that won't be terribly harmed by poop (maybe diarrhea), pee or puke.
Ms. Peaches had a similar incident once. We had a spiral sliced ham for dinner one night, the kind with the sweet/salty glaze. Afterward, we removed the bone and leftovers, however there was still all of the liquid from the ham slow cooking and lots of small bits of meat and fat in the pan. We had left the pan on the kitchen table because the dishwasher was too full. In the morning Peaches climbed up and ate everything - all of the liquid, which had gelled up into aspic, all of the meat bits. She was so bloated she looked like she was ready to give birth. She looked so uncomfortable, but still quite pleased with herself. The saltiness really started to mess with her. Our water bowl holds one gallon and by noon she had nearly emptied it. She threw up and drank throughout the day. In the evening she was still bloated and drinking, but the puking had subsided. It wasn't until about noon the next day that she was back to normal. I chose not to withhold food though, thinking that the non-salty raw food would help to soothe her gut and normalize her sodium levels.
Hope he is better soon. If he starts having the runs you may regret taking him with you to work and your boss might be REALLY pissed.
Take care,

I bet Peaches was in heaven when she found that pan. Here's hoping Eddie pulls through without too much difficulty.
Poor Eddie! I hope he learned his lesson, but I doubt it.I am really surprised they didn't eat the whole bag.
I hope they are both feeling much better soon.![]()

Did I understand that correctly? You are asking your boss to ignore a feeling a little ill pug with smelly farts. You are very brave.
