This isnt pug related but I know some of you own other dogs. I am looking for a way to tire out my lab other then running. I was told about a device you hook to your bike to run them. I am just nervous to spend money on it and then get ripped off my bike and break something lol. Just wanted to see if anyone had tried anything like this for a bigger dog. Thanks guys WalkyDogŪ Dog Bike Leash Official Site | Bike With Your Dog - The Dog Outdoors
I think this one, offered by the same manufacturer, looks a little safer and better designed.

The first one that you posted i would woory that if you had a tumble, the rod could possibly stab/impale the dog, but the two leash one I posted, seems to have flexibility.

Of course I did just notice that the second one is three times the price of the first....
I really enjoyed the video of the great dane being walked with it.

Ceasar puts a pack on his bigger dogs with two water bottles, one in each side then runs or rollar blades with them to wear them out faster. That may also work with biking/ running them.

Lisa I even read a review on what your saying so yeah I think that is pretty scary. To be honest the whole thing kinda scares me because he is very crazy and I think one of us may end up hurt. The pack thing is a good idea I will have to research that more. I was told today that I am not being responsible for my lab because he is not trained and I am not wearing him out enough. It kinda hurt my feelings because yes I have lost my bond with him and he has become more of a pain in my butt then a companion but at the same time I do really try with him. I walk him everyday and I run him every other and I take him to the dog park. He does need training and that is my responsiblity but I think I am a far better owner than many people I know. Not you guys on here you guys are amazing with your dogs and take dog owning to a whole new level. I try to love on him I take good care of him but in the training area I dont know how to reach him and as for the energy I am trying. I dont know maybe I am not a good dog owner but I have seen far worse I dont beat him or abuse him. Actually he is the one who basically owns me lol. I called a trainer today we tried pet smart before but that didnt really work. Sorry this is so long and drawn out I just feel bad inside like I have failed him.
I need to remember this for walking Mandy on the GoGo (my golf cart)

I own 2 labs and I no longer run with them on my bike. What if they get tired? They cant stop. It is also damaging to their hips.My black lab already has damaged hips so it doesn't help. I take mine to a field and let them run plus i have a HUGE yard they can run in. We also do a lot of hiking. Do you have anywhere you can take your dog to run besides running by the bike?
How old is your dog? With training how much Obedience is he getting daily? My dogs get 2 hrs of walking daily with Obedience mixed in. A few hours of off-leash running and also about 15 minutes of Obedience and it helps a lot. Also have you thought about Obedience classes? It will help re-build the bond.
Well I take him to the dog park and its really big so thats the only open area I have for us right now. We will be moving home soon and my family owns 17 acres and has a huge pond so i am hoping that will help him out. I do not do any obedience with him. I actually tested him while we were running today to see if maybe he would listen to me. And he did! He never listens to me without a treat but maybe if he is tired and wore down he is willing to? We do about 30 to 45 min of running and he is very tired afterwards. I am going to do obedience class with him because when we did that before we did have a bond so I know you are right about that. Do you use a pack on your labs when walking them? I am trying to find info online about it I think it should be ok for his back but then Im not sure?
When I hike I do. They carry my water plus there water and I carry the tennis balls, lol. I would find somewhere to take him hiking and use a long line at first. Also do daily Obedience with him or he will get bored. Labs need to be exercised mentally and physically. When training my dogs I find what motivates them. For my black lab is is just a pet on the head and a good boy or a treat. With my yellow lab it is a tennis ball. If a treat motivates him use a treat. On top of the regular obedience(sit, down, heel ect..) I teach them some neat little tricks. I taught my black a lab "put em up" so when I say that while sitting eh puts his legs up. He also shuts the door. My yellow lab will retrieve something and bring it to me. SO just little things to work their mind.
okay thank you for the advise! I do have somewhere to hike him and I do have a long line so that would really work. thank you
