lol - that's too funny. all Li'l does is run up as fast as she can to a big dog, and drops & rolls & spreads. LOL doesn't matter that she's fixed. she's a submissive little girl. it's too funny. everyone thinks it's so adorable. LOL

I used to have a small pug that unfortunetly was not able to come with me here and had to rehome her. she was so vocal and afraid of ZERO..she would go up to all dogs and YELL..lol. Max and Zeus would likely follow the mastiff home..lol totally opposite to her

We got Lucy from a friend who couldn't deal with a puppy, a newborn, and a home renovation at the same time. Our much loved Staffy had passed over the bridge a couple of months before, and we weren't looking for another dog. But, a very charming 8 week old pug puppy playing with our two year old son was the balm for our broken hearts, and she was ours. We learned a lot about pugs in a short time. She snores, sheds, burps in your face, and will swat you with her little paw when she wants something. A total diva...
We rescued Bugsy three years ago, in response to a posting here on PV about a family who couldn't keep their pug. We drove an hour to "check him out" and see how Lucy felt about him, but were so shocked by his emaciated appearance yet bright eyes, we couldn't walk away without him. After discovering and treating active heartworm, bringing him back from a very bony 14 lbs (now a sturdy 19 lbs), and getting him through severe food allergies, he's the best little boy in his universe.
We didn't mean to get a pug, but the pugs meant to find us...

Years & years ago we were living on an orchard & trying to figure out what kind of dog we were going to get. My hubby happened to be over at a co-worker's house & they had a male Pug. DH came home & said "I know the kind of dog we should get--it's a Pug." Hmmm, that was one I'd never thought about--daughter & looked at some pictures of them in our dog books, & we were not immediately smitten. She was attracted to the Papillons, & I was having a tough time getting past the ridiculously curly UP-tail of the Pug! DH said "trust me." So I went to pick up our new baby, & I'm ashamed to admit that I was thinking "we're paying money for this funny-looking little thing?!" Here was this tiny, little, googly eyed sprite who was very self-confident in her own self. She WAS pretty cute, & my curiousity very quickly turned to "she's VERY cute & SWEET!" And FUNNY, and FUN!!! Yep, I was PUGGED by the very next day! That was my beloved Tawny, who I was lucky to adore for 15 years, and whose memory I still adore! Now I have Rugby--funny, lively, somewhat stubborn & mischievous little girl! Both my Pugs have been great with children & other people. Yes, they do shed, but you ain't seen nothin' til you've seen my kitchen floor covered by black Lab Molly's longer, BLACK hair! Oh, well, sweeps up, & I've hear it said that "I'd much rather have the Dog & hair, than no dog & no hair." And the Pugs I've had do snore, but I find it very relaxing to listen to, and usually I end up snoring right along with them. But then, I'd rather be a "dog people" than a "neat freak." Not that neat freaks can't turn into dog lovers, but I think they need to think extra carefully if they will have the patience to put up with the hair, etc. Who wouldn't love this??

I think HE picked ME! He was a little black boy all by himself at the flea market. Little did I know that he was sickly. Now all's well and he was such an inspiration to start fostering and over 100 fosters later...he's still the Bestest Boy Ever!!

    Even hubby's pugged.

I did not get a pug. Benny got a human.

Ill admit, I never wanted to own a pug my whole life. I knew they were adorable, but they didn't fit into the lifestyle I wanted in a dog, kinda high maintenance and stuff. I love the big huge athletic dogs, the bullys, rots, dobermens, GSD, Akitas ect.

But I met Benny and he weaseled into my heart and im hopelessly in love and the ear and wrinkle cleaning, stubborn anal glands, horribleness in the Chicago sun, and nonstop shedding is all worth it.

Our younger daughter fixated on Pugs at about 6 yo and lobbied to get one until she was around 13. In that time, she showed us a lot of articles about Pugs so we were rather familiar with the breed. Three years ago SWMBO and I discussed whether we were ready to have a dog since we figured we were going to be the ones doing the work. We checked out a bunch of mixed breeds at the pound before I decided if we were going to pay for a dog we'd get a Pug. We saw an add for a black puppy in the local paper, so we got Minni from a BYB. Luckily her health has been mostly good. We fell in love with the breed so much we decided to get another and adopted Ray from MAPR. I can't begin to list what I love about Pugs. There's not a trait with either one of our furkids I don't find endearing. The shedding is such a minor negative compared to the Love of a Pug, it's not even a consideration IMHO. When I retire and can stay home I'll be fostering. I just can't get enough!!!!

my first pug that I owned I got for my exhusband for father's day........ she was bought from a puppymill and had followed what my head told me instead of what my heart told.....I would have waited. I ended up with a puppymill pug with lots of issues. but she was a sweetie..........and a velcro dog too. then came Otis and my son rasied him. I took him home from the place where I got the first pug as a replacement for her being blind and lone behold so was he. I called the spca and the story made short she was closed down to several issues.........including letting a lot of pugs run free on a major highway. they do that before they are closed down and then turn to another breed. but aside from that living with 2 blind pugs taught me so much. they were both great dogs.. I fell in love with the pug then.

then after my exhusband took his pug and my son moved out with his pug and just the bullies....decided to get a pug. this time I researched and researched until I found a great show breeder. I bought Zeus and Zeena from her and then she dropped off Max for me to foster. he was Zeus brother ...well he was so abused and I FELL head over heals for him and he is my first foster failure and my last foster......to be honest. I would have a house of pugs if I did not watch it...lol

Max has taught me way to much to mention. I am amazed at his accomplishments everyday. he is my heart dog of the household.. Zeus is the quiet pug that does not much of anything....has bursts of energy and then trips me in the middle of the night thinking I am a burgular..hahaha. but he is very very laid back and my side kick.

no doubt velcro should replace the name of the pug breed......lol
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........
