I think that this will help...for coolguy to understand why pugs are great and why we do own them.
yes they do shed.....I take a piece of my pugs everywhere I go..lol
but I really love the breed for the companionship and also for the fact they are such velcro dogs..
NOTHING nicer then reading a book and dozing off with 2 pugs to snuggle with to keep you warm and cuddly
I love the antics of the pugs too.......they are clowns
they simply do not seem to have a mean streak in them at all that I can see..........
I have one that saved a life and find that also to be quite fascinating considering they said not even the smartest dog would go out and save a stranger like Max did. he is highly intuative sp?. he is also a great therapy dog and believe me you have to have the personality to do that..and a pug fits it well.
so why did you get a pug?
what do you love about your pug?
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........
Funny little clown very loving and good with the other fur kids
I got my pug as a companion as a lot of the time I would be at home and just sleep all day as I wouldnt have anything better to do and was very lonely when the bf was at work. Cute little face and full of beans - perfect little package. Such a charmer and I like having something small enough to pick up when I needed to!
Well when I was younger I never had an interest in dogs at all. I had snakes, turtles, frogs and even a dwarf caiman (insanely mean btw) and the same goes for reptiles as for dogs, do not buy them from a pet store. However I did not know that was the case for dogs. I'm hoping this pet store did good for the puppies and dogs. They had some of the neat reptiles I really enjoyed and they did really well with how they sold there reptiles and treated them really well. IE informed would be buyers the snake they are looking at can easily be 15 feet in a year or 2. Anyways every once and a while they would get puppies and I seen Spud and there was something that caught my attention. I went home but kept thinking about that one pup so the next day I drove down there and picked him up.
I didn't know anything about pugs, I remember saying oh well they have short fur they won't shed that much. I was wrong but I'm fine with it. Spud is amazing and I am so glad to have him. He is loved by everyone instantly it seems. My friends kids ask there parents if I can come over so they can play with Spud.
I love how expressive Spud is. Everyday when I get home from work there he is to greet meet. He helps me forget about a long frustrating day of work in no time.
I can't say that I was originally a fan of pugs. I always thought if I was going to get a dog it would be a husky but after spending time with Spud if I ever think about another dog I'm all about the pugs.
I think if you take a look into the eyes of the PUGS......it says it all
they are very very into your talking..they look at you and they head tilt all the time
I find them very charming to be around.......

Hey Spud, I have the best of both worlds as far as dogs go then!! I have 2 outside huskies and 2 indoor pugs. Put those 4 together in the same room and I could knit 3 more dogs from the amount of fur and hair I get off them! LOL
Well, that, and I probably would be missing 2 little pugs because my huskies look at them like they are milkbones! I love all my dogs for so many different reasons, but mostly because of the sheer devotion I see in their eyes everytime I look at one of them. It sounds corny but it warms my heart and makes me feel really good.
The way the huskies sing for me every morning at 6:30 and then again when the sun goes down is the most awesome sound ever.
The way my pugs think that they are so tough and bigger than a really big dog makes me laugh out loud. The way they tilt their heads when you talk to them, as if they really understand every word you are saying, is the cutest thing, ever! The snoring, I find it adorable. One snores and one doesn't.
The sad little look they get on their faces when they know you are a little pissed at them is so expressive. Really hard to stay mad at all. I especially love the way that all they want to do is be by your side. No exceptions, it doesn't matter, they just want to be with you.

my Li'l is a pugshire (pug/yorkie mix). i had no plans on a specific breed when i decided to get a puppy last year. when i went to visit my daughter for a few days, a family friend's little yorkie just had puppies 2 wks before. i have always loved the looks of a yorkie, so i was excited. even knowing she mated with a pug didn't bother me at all. i totally admit that i knew NOTHING about pugs whatsoever (as so many of you have already figured out about me). i started doing research just before making that trip. i remember looking up pics of pugshires online, and thinking OMG they are ugly! (if you google pics - some of those pics are really scary LOL). but i still was very excited.
the day before i left, we met up with the friend, and i saw my little girl for the first time. she was 18 days old. and absolutely GORGEOUS! she looked full-on like a pug at first, and was so tiny. i had already talked to a vet about taking her that early, and was prepared with puppy replacement milk, and we bought everything i needed for the trip home, right after we picked her up.
for the past year, she has been my puppy angel in more ways than one. she is always so happy to see me every day. we sleep together, take walks together when the weather is good for her, play together, go on rides together, etc. dealing with some of her health issues, and the puppy stage has been a challenge, but nothing i didn't already expect. i love her to pieces, and can't imagine being without her. i am a huge fan of pugs now (she is 3/4 pug), and will be very excited to get another pug when the time comes that's right for us. for right now, though, with as hyper as she still is and still going thru the teen stage, i'm good with just her. LOL
she is my sweet little girl. i can't imagine anyone NOT wanting a pug. or even a pug-mix which is my case. :)
......deeply in love with & loved by my Li'l Bit......
I wasn't really excited about getting my pug when we took him in; as I mentioned in Coolguy's thread, I am a convert. We had just rehomed a rescue and a friend called me very upset because she couldn't keep her boy pug. I was dubious - I had no pug experience up 'til that point, and I had never really been attracted to the breed. We agreed to keep him for a couple of weeks, and if he wasn't a fit for our household we'd help her rehome him. Let me tell you, that was among the best pet decisions I have ever made. I am so in love with Ozzy! I have to be very conscious of my other pets to make sure they get equal attention. Ozzy is a laugh riot - and such a kind, expressive furbaby. He's also been the least 'work' of any creature I've rescued: He was in great health, we only needed to have him neutered and shots updated. He was well socialized and had no major behavior problems. He has no malice toward any human, dog or cat. He's overwhelmingly loving and playful. I continue to thank my friend, now years later, both for giving us the opportunity to love him and for taking such good care of him.
We will never be without a pug again - we are completely smitten!![]()
you hit the nail on the head! i can so relate to every bit of that. Li'l rarely snores, but when she does, it's really cute. she listens to every word anyone says, with so much curiosity. that head tilts nonstop. a friend of mine met her for the first time, last nite. he'd seen her b4, but had never interacted, so last nite was his first time to experience her. she tilted her head constantly at him as he talked to her. he thought it was cute. she always gets that sad puppy eye look when she's in trouble, but then comes up & kisses me to make up. it cracks me up. all she wants to do is make everyone around her happy. and last nite, we were laying on my bed, while i played on my comp. she couldn't have gotten any closer to my arm (i was laying on my belly), without actually laying on my arm. she slept very happily there for about an hour. it was soooooooo adorable! i had worn her out going on a 2-mile walk, and going to visit my friend. she was a pooped puppy. LOL o yeah - and she thinks she's a match to a great dane! we met one last nite (absolutely GORGEOUS 10-month old pup that was literally almost as big as me!), and Li'l thought she was the same size as him! it didn't phase her at all that his paw was as big as her whole body! LOL

When I took Ozzy in for his 2nd booster last month, he thought about taking on a bull mastiff that was in the Vet's office. It was hilarious. All 8 lbs of him, barking and lunging at this massive beast.
If I hadn't been holding onto his leash, I am sure he would have charged right up to the big guy and given him "What For".
