    Default Two males, one house

We have Iggy who is 10 months old. I have always wanted a boston terrier and today we saw new pups at the pet store but males only and she is afraid two males will fight too much. Anyone have experience with having two males (Iggy is neutered) is the same household? I'm sure someone does, just wanting some references.

I would look into rescues, would never buy from a pet store! Can help another dog have a great life and I know over here they can tell you which will get on with other dogs and help you introduce the dogs etc.

Please don't purchase from a pet store, that just fills the pockets of the puppy mills (who treat their breeding stock horribly to say the least) Look up puppy mills on the internet, you'll be shocked!

If you are set on a puppy, look into a good quality breeder. You can often find breeders that sell some of their puppies as pets but do the necessary work to make sure they are bettering the breed. I can't speak for a Boston but I have two male Pugs and a female and they all get along famously. Good luck.

Please do not buy from a pet store. Go to a rescue or a pound. I ahve two male labradors and sometime I have 2 male labs a male pit bull and a male rottweiler in the house all at the same time and they enjoy each others company and have only had one fight. Which was because my black lab has a bad leg and the rotty hit him in the side and my lab snipped. The rottweiler went and growled back but I told them to quit and they have been friends since :)

Please don't buy puppies from pet stores. They get their stock from puppy mills or brokers who deal with puppy mills. Please do some research and consider a rescue Pug.

How Are Animals Treated at Puppy Mills?
Puppy mills usually house dogs in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, without adequate veterinary care, food, water and socialization. Puppy mill dogs do not get to experience treats, toys, exercise or basic grooming. To minimize waste cleanup, dogs are often kept in cages with wire flooring that injures their paws and legs—and it is not unusual for cages to be stacked up in columns. Breeder dogs at mills might spend their entire lives outdoors, exposed to the elements—or crammed inside filthy structures where they never get the chance to feel the sun or a gust of fresh air on their faces.

How Often Are Dogs Bred in Puppy Mills?
In order to maximize profits, female dogs are bred at every opportunity with little to no recovery time between litters. When, after a few years, they are physically depleted to the point that they no longer can reproduce, breeding females are often killed. The mom and dad of the puppy in the pet store window are unlikely to make it out of the mill alive—and neither will the many puppies born with overt physical problems that make them unsalable to pet stores.

Two males would probably get along fine. You'd have a higher chance of trouble with two girls.

I agree with Chris, 2 males get along better than 2 girls, and I think also a boy and a girl.

I have 2 males and they get along great. I have heard having two females is where you find the trouble. I would just make sure the new dog is neutered also when the time comes but im sure you knew that :)

I too have two males who get along fine, one was 3 before we got the second one. And oh gosh I so agree with the not buying from puppy mills etc, but what happens to the poor guys who are already here, while I did not purchase that way, I am not sure how to help the poor pups who are out there awaiting adoption? I do not know the answer. And I guess I have never really thought it all out. I do not support puppy mills on any level any time anywhere. Gosh, that is a question!
