    Default Male or Female??

    Hi All,

I'm new here. I've been begging my husband to let us get a Pug for more than a year now. He finally agreed and we are going to look at a litter of pups tomorrow! My question is - do we want a male or female? Pros/cons??? Not breeding or showing - just want a family pet.

    Thank you!

Hello & to the village! Once pugged, always pugged!
There are several posts on here about what to ask the breeder. Make sure you go to a reputable breeder that is breeding for show and not a back yard breeder. Can't wait to see pics of your new baby!

I strongly recommend a boy puppy, boys seem more mellow as they grow older than the girls. Enjoy your new puppy. Make sure to hook up with a reliable vet who knows the breed, and stock up on toys, playpen, baby gates and baby locks for the kitchen pantry.

I've got two boys and they are super. Both very different, though. Toddy (age 3) is a livewire and always has been whereas Snifter is much quieter.

I have one of each, granted they are still both under a year old, but my female was much easier to housetrain than my male. We are still working on it with him and he is now 5 months old. He's certainly getting better, but I have to keep on top of it still.

Girls tend to rule the house and are more independent, boys are usually more laid back. I love both of mine, but my next dog will probably be a boy:)
